The Role
The Sr. AI Developer leads the design and delivery of advanced AI and agentic solutions on Cameco’s AI platforms. This role provides technical leadership across model fine-tuning, RAG and system integrations, while mentoring developers and partnering with architects and business teams to deliver secure, responsible AI solutions that create business value.
In This Role, You Will
- Act as the technical leader for assigned AI solutions, coordinating development decisions, technical dependencies, quality controls and production readiness.
- Lead the design, development and delivery of advanced AI solutions and agentic applications on Cameco's AI platforms.
- Own complex technical work involving model fine-tuning, retrieval-augmented generation pipelines, vectorization of corporate data and hybrid search.
- Define and promote reusable workflows, coding standards, development patterns and best practices for the developer community.
- Provide technical guidance, reusable patterns and code-review support to AI Developers and other approved contributors to Cameco’s AI solutions.
- Define evaluation approaches and acceptance criteria for model outputs, retrieval quality, agent behaviour, security, reliability and production readiness.
- Define safe design patterns for agent permissions, tool use, human approvals, auditability and recovery from failed or unintended actions.
- Partner with platform, DevSecOps and agentic AI architects to shape solution designs and ensure components integrate effectively.
- Embed security, privacy and responsible AI controls into solutions in accordance with Cameco's AI governance framework.
- Lead troubleshooting, performance tuning and production support for critical AI capabilities.
- Translate business use cases into technical designs and provide effort estimates, risk considerations and technical recommendations.
- Evaluate development frameworks, models and solution patterns and recommend where they should be adopted, standardized or avoided.
Required
- bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, data science, or related field;
- minimum eight years experience of software development experience, including significant hands-on AI/ML solution delivery;
- equivalent combination of education and work experience considered;
- demonstrated experience with model fine-tuning, RAG, and integrating AI into enterprise applications;
- experience providing technical leadership or mentorship on development teams; and
- experience integrating AI solutions with enterprise applications, APIs and cloud and on-premise data sources.
Recommended
- experience building or integrating applications in a containerized/cloud-native environment;
- familiarity with responsible-AI, security, or regulated-industry practices;
- strong experience with Red Hat OpenShift, OpenShift AI, Kubernetes, containers and supporting operators;
- experience with GCP/BigQuery, Microsoft 365 and on-premise file shares;
- knowledge of identity, access, network and data security controls applied to AI platforms; and
- experience delivering solutions in regulated or security-sensitive environments.

Salary Range: $103,000 - $129,000 annually
