Original job description

CAMH is seeking a Temporary Full-Time Registered Behaviour Analyst (RBA) to provide direct clinical care, behavioural assessment, and intervention services across the program FSUB.

Reporting to the Manager and working as a member of an interprofessional team, the Behaviour Analyst applies evidence-based, data-informed approaches within a bio-psychosocial framework. The role includes conducting functional behavioural assessments, designing and implementing interventions, facilitating skill-building programs, and evaluating treatment outcomes.

The Behaviour Analyst also supervises unregistered or provisionally licensed staff, ensuring high-quality care is provided, contributes to program development, provides training, and participates in research initiatives. Work may occur in inpatient, outpatient, or community settings, including forensic and neurodevelopmental populations.

Key Responsibilities

Behavioural Assessment & Evaluation

� Conduct functional behavioural assessments (FBA), preference assessments, and skill evaluations tailored to individual client needs

� Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions and adjust treatment plans as required

Behavioural Intervention & Program Implementation

� Design and implement evidence-based, function-based interventions and skill-building programs

� Facilitate therapeutic, skills-based, and psycho-educational groups

� Support clients in achieving individual treatment goals using data-informed practices

Interprofessional Collaboration

� Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop integrated care plans and evidence-informed recommendations

� Provide guidance and updates to clinical staff regarding interventions and outcomes

� Liaise with CAMH services, community agencies, and external clinicians to coordinate care

Supervision & Staff Development

� Supervise behaviour analysts under supervised practice and unregulated ABA providers

� Provide education, mentoring, and training to staff, students, and team members

� Ensure high-quality care is maintained across all direct and delegated services

Program Development & Capacity-Building

� Contribute to the design, evaluation, and enhancement of programs

� Participate in research, quality improvement, and capacity-building initiatives

Client & Family Support

� Engage with clients and families to provide education, support, and guidance regarding interventions

� Adapt interventions to meet diverse client needs

Workplace Compliance & Safety

� Adhere to all regulatory, legislative, and organizational policies and procedures

� Maintain a safe, inclusive, and collaborative workplace environment

� Demonstrate flexibility to work in inpatient, outpatient, and community settings, including evenings and weekends as required

Qualifications/ Requirements

Post-graduate degree in Behaviour Analysis or a related field - Registration with the College of Psychologists of Ontario (CPBAO) in good standing –

For Registered Behaviour Analyst applicants not yet in independent practice, who are required to practice with clinical supervision, CAMH, in its discretion, will pre-arrange this formal supervisory relationship with the clinical program as a condition of hire, based on capacity
CAMH reserves the right to assess if supervision capacity allows for candidates who are registered with the college under supervised practice.

Minimum 2 years experience in Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA), preferably with individuals with developmental disabilities, mental health challenges, or dual diagnoses - Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills - Ability to work in inpatient, outpatient, and community settings, with a moderate to high level of mental and sensory concentration - Flexibility to work days, evenings, and weekends as required - Capacity to supervise staff under supervised practice and unregulated ABA providers. May involve lifting light objects and occasional de-escalation of clients in distress

Nice-to-Haves - Experience working within forensic systems - Familiarity with Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) - Experience facilitating therapeutic, skills-based, or psycho-educational groups - Research or program development experience - Experience supporting clients and families in complex care settings

Role Summary on a Clinical Team A Behaviour Analyst on a clinical team acts as a specialized clinician who assesses and addresses challenging behaviours using evidence-based, data-driven interventions. They design and implement individualized treatment plans and skill-building programs, while collaborating closely with an interprofessional team to integrate behavioural insights into overall care. They also supervise and train staff and students, contribute to program development, and support clients and families to ensure effective, client-centred outcomes. Overall, they serve as both a clinical expert and a bridge between behavioural science and team-based patient care.
