Original job description

Reports to: CEO

Location: Toronto (Hybrid)

Compensation: 180k + performance bonus

We’re looking for a Head of Partnerships to help lead CanadaVisa’s next stage of growth. You’ll build on our audience, established relationships and technology to grow our partnerships business, bring partner services into our AI products, and develop new channels for our legal services. Reporting directly to the CEO, you’ll shape the strategy and build the team to deliver it.

What we’re building

Six months ago, we pivoted toward building an AI-native legal technology company. Since then, we’ve grown fivefold.

AI has changed the economics of legal services, enabling us to scale faster while providing better client experiences. We’re using that opportunity to serve substantially more people and expand beyond immigration into other areas of consumer law. Our ambition is to become Canada’s largest consumer law business.

We’ve already built AI-native technology across client portals, case-management systems and public-facing tools. We’re using it to reduce manual work, give people personalized guidance and improve how they access and experience legal services. This technology provides a foundation for scaling our services and building new products for clients and partners.

Our partnerships business is evolving alongside it. We’ve built substantial relationships helping organizations such as TD reach and serve our newcomer audience. The next stage is to embed partner services into AI products that help people make decisions and take action.

Partnerships will also help us grow our legal services business, connecting us with new clients through organizations they already know and trust.

Who we are

CanadaVisa brings together nearly 50 years of legal experience through Cohen Immigration Law, thousands of client matters each year and a national audience. Millions of people visit our websites each month, and our immigration community has roughly one million members.

We’re a profitable family business with a history of using technology to change how people find and access immigration services.

We operate like a startup: small teams, broad ownership, fast decisions and close involvement from the CEO. Our colleagues bring experience from Wealthsimple and Clio, alongside startup and growth experience. You’ll join a company with an established business and substantial room to shape what it becomes.

What you’ll lead

You’ll lead and scale the partnerships function, with responsibility for its commercial results, partner relationships and team:

Grow partnership revenue. Identify opportunities within existing relationships and new partnerships, understand the economics for both sides, and turn those opportunities into results.
Bring partner services into our products. Connect partner objectives with real user needs, coordinate delivery, and work with Growth to drive adoption, engagement and measurable customer acquisition and retention.
Build distribution for legal services. Develop mutually beneficial partnerships that bring new clients to our legal services business.
Build and lead an excellent team. Determine the capabilities we need, recruit strong people and give each person clear ownership and measurable goals. Understand where you can contribute most directly and hire people whose strengths complement yours.
Deliver on our commitments. Ensure we meet contractual standards and create lasting value for partners. Establish clear measures of partner health, build relationships across partner organizations, and address concerns early.

You’ll work directly with the CEO on strategy, commercial priorities and team growth, and closely with product and engineering, Growth, Brand and our legal services colleagues. You’ll bring commercial judgment and partner requirements into product decisions and coordinate the work needed to deliver agreed outcomes.

Who will thrive here

You have strong product intuition. You see where a partner’s services can solve a real user problem. You’ve helped translate commercial objectives into products or experiences people use.
You exercise sound commercial judgment. You understand partner economics, recognize profitable growth opportunities and assess whether a relationship can scale. You can explain the value to each party and make thoughtful tradeoffs.
You lead effectively across organizations. You can work with senior stakeholders and delivery teams at a large institution while coordinating colleagues in a smaller, fast-moving business. You create clarity, resolve obstacles and follow through.
You know how to build a team. You understand your strengths and gaps, identify the capabilities the business needs, and design roles around the work and outcomes.
You recognize and attract strong talent. You assess people’s capabilities, motivation and fit carefully. You recruit excellent colleagues, set clear expectations and help them succeed.

Why CanadaVisa

The promise of AI is to make people’s lives better. We’re applying it to legal services that matter to individuals and families: helping them navigate complex processes, make informed decisions and achieve better outcomes.

You’ll help extend that work through partnerships, connecting people with useful services and making it easier for new clients to find legal help. You’ll have an established audience, substantial relationships and a profitable business to build on, with the opportunity to shape a new stage of growth.

Don’t let imposter syndrome prevent you from applying!
