Original job description

Canadian Hearing Services (CHS) has an opening for a Supervisor, Intake position. Reporting to the Manager, Operations & Service Performance Programs & Services Operations, the Supervisor ensures that accurate client data is collected, appropriate services are identified, and referrals are made internally or externally as needed. This role serves as the first point of contact for clients and plays a critical role in ensuring a smooth and informed entry into CHS programs.

This role will coordinate intake across multiple service areas, including Connect Mental Health Counselling, General Support Services, Hearing Care Counselling, Deafblind Intervening, Settlement Services, Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada, and Workforce Literacy. This role focuses on ensuring culturally and linguistically appropriate service for Deaf, Francophone, and linguistic minority clients, and coordinating interpretation services as needed. Responsibilities include managing intake documentation, maintaining waitlists, supporting communication access, and ensuring the use of best practice screening and assessment tools, and supervising Program Assistants. The Supervisor also contributes to service improvement through database management and participation in organizational committees.

This will be a permanent, full-time position, working Monday – Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or a related human services field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, and a Minimum 2–3 years of experience in client intake, service navigation, or mental health triage, preferably in a multi-service or community-based setting. Have demonstrated experience using standardized screening and assessment tools in a mental health or social services context, and knowledge of best practices in intake coordination, client engagement, and referral processes. Fluency in one or more of the following languages used by Canadian Hearing Services' clients is strongly preferred: American Sign Language (ASL), Langue des signes québécoise (LSQ), and/or French.

You have strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines. Demonstrated cultural competency and sensitivity to working in diverse communities. Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, virtual and in-person environment
