What you will be doing!
- Providing strategic leadership, governance, and oversight for a portfolio of site and decommissioning projects that support long-term site objectives.
- Leading the development and planning of major decommissioning projects while maintaining accountability for scope, schedule, cost, risk, and technical performance.
- Developing and implementing site end-state strategies by integrating environmental remediation, waste management, infrastructure disposition, and regulatory closure planning.
- Building strong relationships with Indigenous Nations, regulators, government agencies, and other stakeholders while representing the organization during consultations, reviews, and governance activities.
- Overseeing the transition of projects from development to execution, ensuring readiness, managing risk, and delivering successful outcomes.
- Championing a strong safety culture by ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, environmental obligations, quality standards, and organizational policies.
- Driving continuous improvement, innovation, and the application of lessons learned to enhance project performance and organizational effectiveness.
- Leading multidisciplinary teams, allocating resources effectively, and providing strategic guidance to achieve complex project and organizational objectives.
- Other duties as assigned by your manager.
What We Are Looking For
- Education
- Engineering/scientific or Managerial education and/or background, with expertise in the nuclear field, and demonstrated program/project management, administration and/or leadership experience.
- Experience
- A minimum of ten years’ experience in program/project management, including experience leading Project Management teams and /or Project Portfolios.
- Experience in decommissioning, mine closures, site remediation, excavation and trenching is highly desired.
- Experience and technical background sufficient to enable the incumbent to contribute meaningfully to strategic planning, development, and execution of best practices in decommissioning for CNL at WL Laboratories.
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Possesses a strong grounding in the technical and regulatory dimensions of nuclear and conventional operations and program planning, and a demonstrated ability to apply regulations and standards appropriately and communicate them.
- A working knowledge of the Nuclear Safety Act is an asset.
- Strong written and oral communication skills to communicate with a variety of organizations and at a variety of levels.
- Demonstrated business sense and financial knowledge to adequately plan, manage and monitor Division budgets to meet financial objectives.
- Demonstrated managerial responsibilities of major projects or large programs.
- Must have a broad understanding of the organization to ensure coordination of work through appropriate groups, programs and activities.
- Ability to coordinate time with multiple issues and projects.
- Ability to foster a team environment by understanding and managing group dynamics.
- Good problem resolution skills.
- Strong human resources skills, with the ability to listen to and address human resource issues, and motivate staff to achieve high levels of professionalism.
- Good understanding of change management concepts.
- Interfaces nationally and internationally as required.
- Broad knowledge of nuclear decommissioning, environmental remediation, project development, waste management, regulatory frameworks, and industry best practices.
- Strong understanding of CNL governance processes, corporate objectives, project sanctioning requirements, and strategic planning principles.
- Knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements, environmental obligations, and stakeholder engagement expectations associated with large-scale decommissioning projects.
- Demonstrated initiative and sound judgment in managing complex priorities, risks, and organizational objectives.
- Security Clearance Eligibility Required
- Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”
Working Conditions
- We have a compressed work week: Four (4) days per week, ten (10) hours per day for a forty (40) hour work week, starting at 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- Occasional travel may be required to support project activities, stakeholder engagement, site visits, industry events, and business objectives.
