COORDINATOR, COMMUNICATIONS

Be part of building a national brand. Headquartered in Toronto, the Canadian Olympic Committee (COC) is a national, private, not-for-profit organization committed to high-performance sports excellence. We are the largest private supporter of high-performance sport in Canada and we are responsible for all aspects of Canada’s involvement in the Olympic Movement, including the participation in the Olympic and Pan American Games.

Reporting to the Program Manager, Sport Communications, the Coordinator, Communications provides support to the COC's Communications department. The Coordinator is responsible for a portfolio of projects, as well as for supporting the production of communications materials, logistical support for communications events, as well as maintenance of communications platforms.

LOCATION

This position will be located in one of the COC’s offices (Montreal, QC, at 500 René-Lévesque Boulevard West; or in Toronto, ON at 250 Yonge St. Suite 3000). We offer a hybrid work model that allows for up to two days of remote work each week.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES AND PRIORITIES

Games-related Communications Projects

Responsible for leading the planning, delivery and reconciliation of one major impact project.
- Develop and maintain communications project plans in the COC Project Management software (Asana)
- Support the execution and tracking of project deliverables
- Work cross-functionally and liaise with COC Functional Area Leads (FA) and Mission Team (MT) to coordinate operational needs
- Liaise with external partners to ensure proper support for Games deliverables within each area
Support the Program Manager, Sport Communication on the planning and execution of Team Announcements
Responsible for the planning and delivery of medium or smaller impact projects

Communications Support

Support the planning, project management and delivery of various communications projects and events
Support in drafting and distributing communications materials
Support in pulling and analyzing media engagement and drafting earned media reports
Support in maintenance and servicing of the communications inbox
Collaborate on the communications content calendar and maintaining key dates
Monitor international, national and regional media and share relevant clippings with Communications teams, and contribute to communications reports
Maintain various communications-owned platforms including but not limited to Wordpress, Photoshelter and MailChimp
Maintain communications team Sharepoint, Google Drives and internal filing systems
Support the execution of translation services
Coordinate communication team's administrative duties

Photography

Collaborate with the Specialist, Media Relations on back-end maintenance of COC's photo platform, including onboarding new internal and external users and maintaining filing system
Liaise with COC photo editor, photography contractors, NSOs and media to deliver on photo requests
Coordinate photoshoots for the communications team when required by working with external photographers, ensuring up-to-date guidelines, and managing photographer compensation

Other duties, as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS AND CRITICAL SKILLS

Education and Experience

Post-secondary degree or equivalent experience in Communications, Media, Journalism, or a related field
1- 2 years’ related experience in a communications or digital function, preferably related to sport.

Skills and Abilities

Ability to communicate (written and verbally) in both English and French is required
Ability to prioritize in a high-volume environment and thrive under pressure
Knowledge of and passion for Olympic sport, Canadian athletes, and the Canadian sport system
Self-starter, motivated, and takes initiative
Exceptional attention to detail with a commitment to ensuring factual information
Excellent organizational and administrative skills
Excellent interpersonal skills, discretion and confidence in dealing with timely or sensitive issues
Excellent ability to work positively in a team environment
Aptitude for dealing professionally with a broad cross-section of stakeholders and representatives
Flexibility and ability to travel and work late hours and weekends where occasionally required
Up to date on social media trends
Experience with photography is an asset
Excellent Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) WordPress and MailChimp skills

COMPENSATION

The expected salary range for this role is $47,800 to $65,700 per year. The base pay within this range is based on a number of factors, including relevant experience, skills, qualifications, internal pay equity, and market benchmarks.
