Job Description
The Crane Operator is responsible for hoisting, lifting, moving heavy loads, maintaining the overhead cranes, and also assisting other crane operators as necessary while complying to the company’s health and safety standards.
- Complete daily pre-use inspections prior to using a crane and other material handling equipment.
- Use WOFU and RFTM system to manage requisitions in the system.
- Operate forklift and crane including tandem crane to perform following duties as and when required:
- Unload coils, completing coil sheet, moving coils into roll forming area.
- Load coil on the upender/mandrel and scan the coils in the system for production.
- Move the partial strapped coils to the coil rack.
- Strap coils at the end of the shift.
- Sort/unload warehouse conveyor.
- Shunt trailers as required.
- Conduct general area clean up.
- Practice good housekeeping, including 5S requirements, and time management in the performance of daily duties.
- Comply with all legislated and Company’ Health, Safety, Environmental, Quality and Lean policies, procedures and programs.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum 1-2 years experience operating heavy industrial equipment with proven ability to work safely and effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.
- Ability to operate an overhead crane (Tandem Crane Operation) and forklift.
- Ability to read and interpret job specific technical documentation, precision measurement tools (e.g. tape measure, calipers) and possess basic English to complete necessary paperwork.
- Physical ability to routinely lift up to 50 lbs, continuously flip/stack materials, and rig loads for movement with a crane.
- Ability to interact with drivers delivering raw materials or picking up loads for shipment.;
- Must be willing to work independently and within a team, flexible shifts, accept shift transitions if required, and cover weekday and weekend overtime/absenteeism as needed.
- Shunting experience is required.
Additional Information
Unionized Role
Pay rate: $30.18 per hour
Afternoon Shift: 4:00pm to 12:30am
- Overtime available during the week and weekends
