The Transload Operator is responsible for providing safe and efficient rail car loading and unloading of various products and commodities. Working in a fast-paced, customer-oriented environment, the incumbents must work well in teams to maximize efficiency and safety, while demonstrating a strong initiative and organizational skills.

Roles & Responsibilities

Ensure railcars are properly equipped for the loading/unloading of customers’ commodities, including transportation of dangerous goods
Operate equipment in a safe and efficient manner to ensure the proper loading of customer products.
Provide protection of train, track, and equipment
Perform plant and equipment inspections and tests including completing daily inspection and testing of the equipment safety devices
Communicate with the switching crews and operations for the safe and efficient transfer of the customers product
Promptly reporting all safety, equipment, and track problems to the Team Lead
and/or Manager
Completing daily reports, daily logs, and other reports deemed necessary
Exerting “best effort” to protect human life, human safety and company property
Actively participating with the team and providing excellent customer service while promoting a superior company image
Participating in training or company initiatives as required

Skills, Knowledge, & Abilities

Excellent teamwork skills; strong customer service skills
Ability to read and write general documentation including safety briefings, policy and
procedure manuals, and switching lists
Physically fit including the ability to pull self up and down from a railcar on a
continuous basis, able to lift and twist air hoses, able to secure rail car brakes, derails, and switches
Knowledge with technology and computer systems with a willingness to use Excel
and Outlook daily
Strong problem solving and decision-making abilities
Ability to obtain CROR certification and maintain clear drug & alcohol clearance
throughout their employment

Education & Experience

Previous experience as a Transload Operator ideal
Valid driver’s license
Be willing and able to work in all weather conditions

L'opérateur de transbordement est responsable d'assurer le chargement et le déchargement sécuritaires et efficaces des wagons ferroviaires de divers produits et marchandises. Travaillant dans un environnement rapide et orienté client, les titulaires doivent bien travailler en équipe pour maximiser l'efficacité et la sécurité, tout en démontrant une forte initiative et des compétences organisationnelles.

Rôles et responsabilités

Assurez-vous que les wagons sont bien équipés pour le chargement/déchargement des marchandises des clients, y compris le transport des marchandises dangereuses
Utilisez l'équipement de manière sécuritaire et efficace afin d'assurer le chargement correct des produits clients.
Assurer la protection du train, des voies et de l'équipement
Effectuer des inspections et des tests d'installations et d'équipements, incluant l'inspection quotidienne et les tests des dispositifs de sécurité des équipements
Communiquer avec les équipes de manœuvre et les opérations pour assurer un transfert sûr et efficace du produit du client
Signaler rapidement tous les problèmes de sécurité, d'équipement et de piste au chef d'équipe
et/ou gestionnaire
Compléter des rapports quotidiens, des journaux quotidiens et d'autres rapports jugés nécessaires
Déployer les « meilleurs efforts » pour protéger la vie humaine, la sécurité humaine et les biens de l'entreprise

Compétences, connaissances et aptitudes

Excellentes compétences en travail d'équipe; Solides compétences en service à la clientèle
Capacité à lire et rédiger la documentation générale, y compris les briefings de sécurité, les manuels de politiques et de procédures, ainsi que les listes de commutation
Physiquement apte incluant la capacité de se tirer soi-même en haut et en bas d'un wagon ferroviaire de façon continue, la capacité de soulever et tordre les tuyaux d'air, la capacité de fixer les freins, les déraillements et les aiguillages des wagons
Connaissance de la technologie et des systèmes informatiques, avec une volonté d'utiliser Excel et Outlook au quotidien
Fortes capacités de résolution de problèmes et de prise de décision
Capacité à obtenir la certification CROR et à maintenir une autorisation claire pour drogues et alcool tout au long de son emploi

Éducation et expérience

Expérience antérieure comme opérateur de transbordement idéal
Permis de conduire valide
