Original job description

With over 50 mid-sized manufacturing companies across 100 locations in North America, Canerector brings together unmatched industrial expertise. We are growing our Strategy & Business Intelligence Team to turn that knowledge into action, helping our businesses outperform while giving ambitious professionals the chance to lead high-impact projects and grow into senior executive roles in the future.

About Canerector

Canerector is a privately owned, debt-free company, on a mission to grow our network of industrial manufacturing and design companies. We value simplicity and practicality, empowering each business to operate autonomously, while providing each with the resources they need to be agile and thrive. We believe in building businesses and leaders for the long term, creating sustainable success for all.

Here, skill and merit create opportunity. We’re building our next generation of leaders by giving them broad, hands-on experience understanding complex business challenges and winning approaches to solve them.

About The Role

This role supports our businesses through change, growth, and transformation. You’ll track performance across our portfolio, uncover opportunities, and help execute strategies that deliver measurable results. You’ll also play a key role in our M&A efforts, a cornerstone of our growth strategy, by analyzing opportunities, supporting due diligence, and helping new businesses integrate successfully.

The position is based in our Toronto office but involves frequent travel and onsite presence at our North American businesses, up to 50% or more once fully trained.

This role is flexible and dynamic, and no job description could capture everything it will involve over time. From real estate optimization one day, to organizational restructuring the next, every day at Canerector brings a new challenge. Here’s how this role will help us solve them:

Financial Analytics

Conduct financial analysis and monitoring across our organization so that head office has a complete and accurate picture of performance at all businesses.

Perform deep-dive financial analyses to identify efficiency, cost and growth opportunities and support the build-out of improvement plans.

Analyze conventional financial data and any other form of relevant data that would support the development of actionable insights to improvement plans.

Acquisitions Support

Assist with site visits and analysis for prospective M&A targets.

Help our due diligence and deal closing process.

Support the integration and onboarding of newly acquired businesses.

Business Process Analysis & Improvement

Analyze and map company processes to identify areas for improvement.

Build strategic plans to improve business processes.

Create tools and support infrastructure to drive better business operation, such as data tracking capabilities for sales, estimating production, etc.

Support ERP implementation and elevation of the business through use of the new ERP.

Lead, train and support the execution of these change initiatives which could be in any area of the business including sales, purchasing, estimating, production, finance or general management.

Who You Are

This role is ideal for someone who thrives on variety, loves solving complex problems, and wants to grow into a future business leader. Could it be you?

You are analytical and resourceful and take pride in seeing your work make a real impact. You are equally comfortable diving into spreadsheets or walking a factory floor.

You are ambitious and eager to grow into broader leadership roles while taking on entrepreneurial challenges that will improve our great company.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, management, operations, finance or a related field.

Minimum 5 years of experience in manufacturing, consulting or a related discipline.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Willingness and ability to travel extensively across North America.

Based in Toronto; in-office 3 days per week when not travelling.
