Cape Breton University (CBU) is seeking an organized, collaborative, and highly motivated professional to join its Athletics Department as a Full-Time Limited-Term Coordinator, Special Projects. This approximately 18-month position plays a key role in supporting the planning, coordination, and delivery of special projects, events, and initiatives within the Athletics Department.

As a key member of the department, the Special Projects Coordinator will serve as a primary point of contact and work closely with internal and external stakeholders to coordinate activities, provide administrative support, and oversee day-to-day project and event requirements.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

Plan and coordinate Athletics special events, student-athlete recognition programs, tournaments, fundraising initiatives, camps, and game-day experiences.
Build relationships and engagement with University departments, community partners, student groups, and external organizations to support Athletics events, promotions, and initiatives.
Support departmental operations and priorities including risk management, the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), marketing initiatives, and the planning and execution of special projects.
Provide administrative and operational support to the Department of Athletics & Recreation, including communications, scheduling, document preparation, records management, office operations, and confidential student information.
Coordinate Athletics logistics and travel, including team transportation and accommodations, itineraries, travel documentation, scheduling changes, and related administrative requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Post-Secondary diploma in a recognized field. Undergraduate degree is an asset;
Candidates with an undergraduate degree combined with appropriate experience will be considered;
Exceptional oral and written communications; friendly, helpful, professional.
Strong time management skills and ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines;
Knowledge and interest in university sport and community recreation development;
Understanding of all aspects of risk management with respect to health and safety.
Excellent computer, internet, and information technology skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office, and the ability to learn new technology tools quickly.
