Role
As a MarTech / AdTech Technical Lead, you will lead solution design and technical delivery across the marketing and advertising technology ecosystem, including customer data platforms (CDPs), marketing automation platforms, decisioning and personalization engines, identity resolution solutions, and advertising/media activation technologies. This role requires a broad understanding of the MarTech and AdTech landscape, with the ability to design integrated solutions, define scalable architectures, and guide teams through successful implementation. You will work across multiple platforms and business functions, helping clients connect technology, data, and customer engagement capabilities to deliver seamless and personalized experiences at scale.
You will define target-state architecture, make build-vs-buy and platform-fit calls, and lead a multi-disciplinary delivery team through implementation - coordinating specialists across identity, data engineering, decisioning, and activation so the overall solution stays coherent even as individual workstreams move at their own pace.
The ideal candidate combines genuine technical depth in at least one or two areas of the MarTech/AdTech landscape with the breadth to speak credibly across all of it, and the leadership presence to run a delivery team and represent the practice directly to client stakeholders, including at the executive level. This position suits a practitioner who has grown from hands-on implementation into technical leadership, and who is energized by ambiguous, multi-vendor environments rather than a single-platform mandate
Responsibilities
- Solutioning & Architecture
• Design end-to-end MarTech/AdTech solutions spanning identity resolution, customer data platforms, decisioning and personalization, and multi-channel activation.
• Evaluate and recommend platforms across the ecosystem - marketing clouds (e.g., Adobe Experience Cloud, Salesforce Marketing Cloud and Data Cloud), customer data platforms, and adjacent decisioning or orchest
- Lead technical and functional discovery sessions to understand the client's current marketing and advertising technology landscape, business objectives, data ecosystem, and activation requirements.
- Assess existing platforms and capabilities across customer data platforms (CDPs), marketing automation platforms, decisioning engines, identity solutions, data platforms, and advertising technologies to identify integration opportunities, capability gaps, and modernization requirements.
- Define and design target-state architecture for customer engagement, personalization, audience activation, and cross-channel marketing, ensuring alignment with enterprise technology standards and business objectives.
- Develop solution blueprints, integration patterns, and implementation approaches across the broader MarTech and AdTech ecosystem.
- Provide technical leadership throughout the delivery lifecycle, working with cross-functional teams to ensure successful implementation of the proposed architecture and solution design.
- Serve as a key technical stakeholder for clients and internal delivery teams, providing architectural guidance, issue resolution, and implementation oversight.
- Collaborate with platform specialists, data engineers, architects, and business stakeholders to establish clear ownership boundaries and ensure seamless interoperability across technologies.
- Drive architecture decisions and technical governance, balancing business requirements, scalability, maintainability, and operational considerations.
- Support roadmap planning and solution evolution by identifying opportunities to improve platform utilization, customer data activation, personalization, and marketing effectiveness.
- Contribute to technical estimations, implementation planning, risk management, and delivery best practices across customer engagement and advertising technology initiatives.
Required Skills
- 12+ years in MarTech, AdTech, or customer engagement consulting, including at least 6 years in a technical leadership or delivery management capacity.
- Demonstrated experience designing solutions across more than one part of the ecosystem - for example, a marketing cloud and a customer data platform, or a decisioning engine and an activation platform - rather than deep expertise confined to a single tool.
- Working familiarity with enterprise MarTech/AdTech landscape - Adobe Experience Cloud, Salesforce Marketing Cloud and Data Cloud, customer data platforms, and common ad tech/media activation tools - sufficient to hold a credible conversation and make an informed recommendation, without needing hands-on certification in every one of them.
- Experience managing or leading a delivery team, including staffing, technical mentorship, and accountability for delivery outcomes.
- Comfortable operating in ambiguous, multi-vendor environments and making an architectural call without a single obvious right answer.
- Strong executive communication skills; able to present and defend a recommendation to senior client stakeholders.
- Practical understanding of identity resolution, event-driven architecture, and API-based integration patterns across the ecosystem.
Preferred / Nice to Have
- Hands-on implementation background in at least one major platform (a marketing cloud, a CDP, or a decisioning engine) before moving into a lead role.
- Exposure to agentic or AI-driven marketing capabilities and a point of view on how they change traditional MarTech architecture.
- Experience with the broader advertising technology stack - DSPs, data clean rooms, or retail/commerce media networks.
- Familiarity with cloud data warehouse or lakehouse environments and how they interact with the marketing stack.
- Prior systems-integrator or consulting background spanning more than one industry.
- Experience operating within regulated industries, including data privacy and consent management.
