Original job description

161 Bay Street (93021), Canada, Toronto,Toronto, Ontario,Intern, Strategy Analyst - Summer 2027

MUST INCLUDE YOUR RESUME AND UNOFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT IN ONE PDF DOCUMENT IN THE ATTACHMENT SECTION WHEN YOU CREATE YOUR PROFILE TO APPLY.

About Capital One Canada

For 30 years, we’ve been on a mission to change banking for good. We challenge the traditional bank stereotype, fostering a culture where innovation thrives and bold ideas are celebrated.

You’ll be empowered to grow your career in a supportive environment where you can own and shape your journey on your own terms. You’ll redefine what’s possible by contributing to work that impacts millions of Canadians, taking ownership of your decisions and outcomes, supported by mentors who will push you to think bigger and challenge the status quo.

Are you ready to redefine what’s next?

About the Role

You will join our Toronto office for ~16 weeks in the Summer of 2027 (May to August), to work in teams and directly with our internal stakeholders. You will get to work with a team of fellow strategy analysts, along with associates in other job families such as Data Scientists and Product Managers, to identify solutions for problems or processes.

Over the course of each project, you will gather and analyze information, formulate and test hypotheses, and develop and communicate recommendations to business stakeholders.

Your Responsibilities:

To give you an idea of what to expect as a Strategy Analyst intern, here are a few project examples:

Analyzing trends in fraudulent credit card applications and transactions in order to enhance our suite of models and tools. The goal: reduce fraud costs and minimize negative experiences for our cardholders.
Developing a framework through which customers may benefit from having a different card than the one they currently have. The goal: enhancing the overall value provided to the customer while being mindful of the additional costs and credit risk associated with different products.
Building a challenger model to an existing model that predicts how much customers are likely to spend on their credit cards. The goal: understanding if a simpler model could capture enough of the business value to justify retiring the complex model.

Be ready to join a community of the smartest people you’ve ever met, who see the customer first, and want to use their data skills to change banking for good.

Basic Qualifications:

Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or postgraduate degree from an accredited University with an expected graduation date in or after December 2027.

Preferred Qualifications:

Pursuing a bachelor’s degree/master's degree in Commerce, Finance, Marketing, Economics, Business Administration, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics or a related field
Superior analytical and problem-solving skills. If you know how to code in Python, SQL or other programming languages, that’s awesome. If not, don’t worry - we’ll teach you.
Ability to communicate complex ideas both verbally and in writing.
Ability to adapt in a dynamic, ever-changing environment; being flexible and open to new ideas and requirements that will enable you to thrive.

Working at Capital One

Here you’ll uncover personal strengths, explore new interests and make an impact that matters. The work you’ll find here will keep you inspired and guide you in your career journey.

Take ownership of your own potential: As you begin your career, you’ll define your own path by gaining exposure across the business, learning new skills, and having access to tools and mentorship to understand your potential.
Find your rhythm: We believe trust fosters the flexibility and autonomy required to balance personal needs with a focus on high performance. We support a hybrid model – with 3 days in the office per week – that gives room for both collaboration and personal commitments.
A supportive community from day one: Through our robust onboarding program, orientation sessions, buddy program for new hires and early career development programs, you’ll get foundational training while building connections with your peers and leaders – cultivating a supportive community you can lean on for support and guidance.

You’ll find that Capital One is committed to helping you thrive and evolve every step of the way.

This posting is for an existing vacancy.

The expected annual salary for this position is between $45,000 to $85,000.

We embrace the responsible use of artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance the candidate experience and streamline our recruitment processes. However, no hiring decisions are made using AI as every hiring decision is made by our hiring managers, business interviewers, and recruitment professionals. Our teams are equipped with training that empowers them to use AI responsibly.
