Job details

Job type: Full-time
Apply by: May 1, 2027
Experience: 3+ years of B2B sales experience, ideally in professional services (legal services experience is an asset)
Posting language: English

Original job description

Law, done better. Build your sales career selling it.

WHO WE ARE
For over 20 years, Caravel Law has pioneered a different kind of law firm in Canada.
Our lawyers combine Big Law training with in-house experience, and embed directly with clients to deliver sophisticated, business-minded counsel without the overhead, hierarchy, or billable hours targets of traditional firms.

We work alongside General Counsel, the C-suite, and founders to build scalable legal capacity where and when it is needed. We don’t measure the success of our lawyers in hours billed. We measure it in deals closed, risks avoided and businesses built. And it’s all powered by the best business development team in the industry. That’s where you come in.

We’re a strategic partner of Platform Calgary, the front door to Alberta’s innovation ecosystem, a four-time Globe and Mail Top Growing Company, and recognized as one of Canada’s Best Law Firms. Now we’re ready to accelerate how we grow, and we’re hiring a Director of Business Development to support the Western Canadian market.

Why this role is different

Real deals from day one. You’ll own full sales cycles on your own matters, not just book meetings for someone else.
Every inbound lead starts with you. Website and marketing leads come to you first, along with a portfolio of existing client accounts to grow.
A clear path up. This seat is our bench for enterprise selling. You’ll work alongside every Director on our BD team and build toward an enterprise or Director-level role.
Sell the future of law. We have a department dedicated to Legal Innovation, and our lawyers use AI to save time and create real value.

What you’ll do

Own end-to-end sales cycles for small and mid-sized legal mandates, from first call to signed engagement
Be the first point of contact for inbound leads from our website and marketing, qualifying and converting them fast
Manage and grow a portfolio of client accounts, spotting upsell and cross-sell opportunities
Re-engage lapsed and inactive clients, and qualify marketing leads for our Directors of Business Development
Keep the engine running: CRM hygiene, pipeline reporting and follow-up on outstanding client invoices

What you bring

3+ years of B2B sales experience, ideally in professional services (legal services experience is an asset)
A track record of hitting quota while juggling a high volume of deals
Comfort with inbound and outbound alike: fast follow-up, cold calls and booking your own meetings
Clear, confident communication with founders, business owners and in-house counsel
A love of a clean pipeline: organized, process-driven and detail-oriented
Experience with HubSpot, LinkedIn Sales Navigator or Clio is a plus

Bonus points: Have a JD? If you hold a law degree and want to pivot into legal services sales, that’s a real advantage here. You already speak the language of our clients and our lawyers. Put it to work on the business side of law.

Apply at caravellaw.com/careers with your resume and a short cover letter. Tell us about the best deal you’ve ever closed.

More about this job

Responsibilities

Manage end-to-end sales cycles for small and mid-sized legal mandates, qualify and convert inbound leads, and grow existing client accounts through upselling and cross-selling. Re-engage inactive clients, qualify leads for business development directors, and maintain CRM records, pipeline reports, and invoice follow-ups.

Requirements

Requires at least three years of B2B sales experience, ideally in professional services, with a record of meeting quota while managing a high volume of deals. Candidates should be comfortable with inbound and outbound sales, communicate confidently with business leaders and in-house counsel, and be organized and detail-oriented; experience with HubSpot, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, or Clio is an asset, and a law degree is a bonus.
