About the Role
CarbonRun is hiring a Manager, Supply Chain Operations to lead feedstock sourcing, supplier management, and supply chain operations across our growing portfolio of river alkalinity enhancement (RAE) projects, while supporting project development and management across the portfolio to get projects from ideation to launch.
Reporting to the Senior Director, Business Development and working closely with our science, business and operations teams, you will build and maintain CarbonRun's feedstock engagement tracker and supplier network, and support the development and management of projects.
This role is ideal for an analytical, detail-oriented operator who is comfortable working across business, supply chain, project development, and technical functions, and who enjoys building processes and relationships from the ground up as part of a distributed, growth-focused team.
Key Responsibilities
Feedstock Sourcing and Supplier Management
- Identify, map, and qualify regional feedstock suppliers (e.g., limestone, suitable industrial byproducts) across CarbonRun's active regions and project pipeline, using research and GIS-based mapping, and assessing chemistry, quality, and supply consistency for RAE application.
- Own regional feedstock supplier relationships and commercial terms, including negotiating supply agreements and coordinating logistics planning (transport mode, volume, distance), in partnership with the Operations team and in coordination with CarbonRun's science team.
- Own the global feedstock engagement tracker and supplier map, keeping supplier status and pipeline visibility current, including datasets on feedstock providers and co-location opportunities near priority river systems to support site evaluation.
Feedstock Evaluation and Selection
- Direct feedstock analysis requests and testing programs to assess suitability for RAE deployment, from initial screening through sample sourcing and lab testing. Working with the science and technical teams, ; establish and refine regional-specific thresholds for feedstock purity, particle size distribution, and contaminant metals to streamline supplier qualification and reduce time spent on unsuitable leads.
- Develop deep working knowledge of feedstock cost dynamics, including pricing, quality, and shipping/logistics tradeoffs across feedstock types and sources, to inform project economics and support pipeline prioritization.
- Run scenarios in CarbonRun's TEA model comparing feedstock sources, alternative feedstock types, and shipping/logistics options against cost, environmental footprint, and project economics, using outputs to help prioritize the project pipeline and determine the best-fit feedstock and shipping solution for each project.
- Support development and maintenance of CarbonRun's life cycle analysis (LCA) models across the project portfolio by providing feedstock and supply chain inputs relevant to project boundaries (Scope 1, 2, and 3) and representative emission factors and Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs).
Supply Chain Operations
- Manage procurement and logistics for non-feedstock materials and equipment (e.g., construction inputs, monitoring equipment, consumables) required across the project portfolio, sourcing vendors and negotiating terms, weighing both cost and environmental footprint.
- Own transportation and freight logistics across the project portfolio, including carrier relationships, delivery scheduling, and route and mode optimization.
- Evaluate and design multi-modal supply chain options (rail, marine/bulk carrier, barge, transload terminals) for project sites without local feedstock sources, including total landed cost, transit reliability, and storage/buffering requirements at the destination.
- Partner with EPC team on the receiving-end storage and handling infrastructure implied by a chosen logistics solution (e.g., silo capacity, transload throughput).
- Identify supply chain risks, such as single-source dependencies, feedstock or logistics disruptions, and seasonal access constraints, and develop contingency plans and backup sourcing options that account for both cost and LCA impact, protecting project timelines and the integrity of carbon removal claims as the pipeline scales.
- Monitor supply chain costs and performance across suppliers and carriers alongside their associated GHG/LCA footprint, flagging budget, schedule, or emissions risks and identifying opportunities to jointly improve efficiency, reliability, and climate performance.
Project Development and Management Support
- Support site identification and selection by prioritizing rivers and sites based on feedstock proximity and mapping to minimize feedstock transport distance and cost. Where local feedstock is unavailable, identify viable long-haul supply chain pathways (rail, marine, transload) that can keep an otherwise-strong river site in the pipeline.
- Contribute on regulatory and permitting activities through conducting research and analysis, providing technical inputs, and developing content and maps for permit applications.
- Track key project and business milestones and work closely with internal and external teams to ensure adherence to project timelines.
- Work with cross-functional teams to identify potential risks in project execution and assist in developing mitigation strategies.
- Coordinate EPC and site logistics for projects with internal teams and external contractors and vendors
- Assist with project management tasks such as maintaining project trackers, supporting budget and schedule reporting, and coordinating meetings and deliverables across internal teams and external partners.
Qualifications
Required
- 3-5 years of experience in supply chain, procurement, or feedstock/raw material sourcing, ideally in industrial materials such as aggregates, mining, construction materials, or agriculture.
- Experience negotiating commercial supply agreements and managing supplier relationships and logistics.
- Experience supporting project development or project management activities (e.g., scheduling, cross-functional coordination, tracking deliverables).
- Comfort with GIS-based mapping tools and building/maintaining supplier and feedstock trackers and datasets.
- Working knowledge of quality specifications relevant to industrial materials (chemistry, particle size distribution, contaminant thresholds), or the ability to learn quickly in partnership with CarbonRun's science team.
- Experience supporting registry reporting, Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs), or third-party verification processes is an asset.
- Ability to organize work, track tasks, and manage competing priorities across multiple supplier relationships and projects.
- Clear, professional written and verbal communication skills, and comfort working cross-functionally with Science, Operations, Engineering, and Government and Regulatory Affairs teams.
- Self-starter who takes ownership of tasks and follows them through to completion.
- Willingness to travel periodically to project sites and supplier locations across Canada.
