Original job description
Company Description CARGO architecture is driven by the belief that architecture can be practiced in a way that aligns project quality, individual growth, and organizational performance. The team prioritizes understanding people, needs, organizations, and context before designing, adapting its approach to each project rather than applying a fixed formula. CARGO architecture is deeply oriented toward constructability, ensuring that ideas are translated into built reality in collaboration with those who construct and inhabit the spaces. The firm’s expertise spans multiresidential, industrial, institutional, heritage, bespoke residential projects, and work with First Nations communities. A culture of care, knowledge sharing, and high performance shapes both client relationships and the way the team develops and supports its members across several offices in Québec.
Role Description The Senior Architectural Technician will work on-site in Québec, QC in a full-time capacity, collaborating closely with architects, designers, and project managers. Day-to-day responsibilities include developing and refining technical drawings and construction documents, ensuring accuracy, compliance with codes, and coordination with engineering and other disciplines. The role involves preparing detailed plans and specifications, reviewing drawings for constructability, and supporting the translation of design concepts into buildable solutions. The Senior Architectural Technician will participate in project meetings, incorporate feedback from stakeholders, and help maintain consistent documentation standards across projects. This position also contributes to mentoring junior team members, supporting quality control, and fostering effective collaboration with contractors and partners throughout the project lifecycle.
Qualifications
- Strong expertise in Architectural Technology and Architecture, with the ability to bridge design intent and technical execution.
- Proficiency in Technical Drawing and Construction Drawings, including the production of detailed plans, sections, and elevations.
- Advanced skills in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) tools and familiarity with industry-standard software used in architectural practice.
- Solid knowledge of building codes, standards, and construction methods, particularly within the Québec and Canadian context.
- Several years of experience in an architectural or construction environment, ideally in multiresidential, institutional, or industrial projects.
- Diploma or degree in Architectural Technology, Architecture, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to work on-site collaboratively, communicate clearly with multidisciplinary teams, and manage priorities across multiple projects.
- Attention to detail, commitment to quality, and interest in constructability and sustainable building practices.
