Original job description

Caron & Partners LLP has been helping clients navigate complex legal matters with confidence for more than 55 years. As a mid-sized Calgary law firm, we combine exceptional legal expertise with a collaborative, people-focused culture. We are proud to offer meaningful work and a supportive environment where talented professionals can thrive.

We are looking for an experienced immigration professional to join our full-service immigration law firm in a senior role focused predominantly on our corporate immigration practice.

You will manage sophisticated employer and business immigration matters while helping us build a modern, AI-enabled, technology-driven and client-centred approach to immigration service delivery.

What You’ll Do

  • Manage economic and corporate immigration and employer-driven matters, including applications, supporting evidence, documentation, submissions and deadlines
  • Support clients, executives, professionals and foreign workers throughout the immigration process
  • Deliver clear, proactive and exceptional client service, helping create a seamless experience from onboarding through submission and follow-up
  • Support cross-border matters, working across jurisdictions, external counsel, service providers and stakeholders
  • Provide support across other areas of our full-service immigration practice as needs and opportunities arise
  • Develop and continuously improve SOPs, workflows, playbooks, templates and checklists
  • Train, mentor and support junior case managers
  • Identify bottlenecks, overdue work and opportunities to automate, standardize, delegate or redesign
  • Help design AI-enabled workflows and technology solutions that bring together people, process, data and automation
  • Support dashboards, reporting, data quality and continuous improvement
  • Contribute to practice growth and client engagement, including webinars, newsletters, client events, educational content and other market-facing initiatives
  • Identify recurring client needs and emerging issues that can inform new resources, communications and service offerings
  • Recognize matters requiring legal analysis, strategy or professional judgment and escalate them appropriately to lawyers

What We are Looking For

We are particularly interested in someone with a technology-forward, continuous-improvement mindset who understands how to use AI, automation, data and technology to redesign workflows, improve client experience and increase the capacity of the legal team.

You should be highly organized, comfortable taking ownership of sophisticated files and processes, and able to distinguish between procedural case-management responsibilities and issues requiring lawyer-level legal judgment.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of immigration case-management experience, preferably with corporate immigration experience
  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage complex files and competing deadlines
  • Strong understanding of Canadian immigration processes, documentation and procedural requirements
  • Excellent client communication, organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Experience training or mentoring junior case-management professionals
  • Strong Microsoft 365 capabilities and confidence using technology, AI and automation to improve workflows and client service in a law firm setting
  • Experience with Excel, SharePoint, Power BI and Power Automate, as well as case-management, workflow automation or other legal-technology platforms, is a strong asset
  • A technology-forward, continuous-improvement mindset and sound judgment about when an issue requires escalation to a lawyer

The Opportunity

This is an opportunity for an experienced immigration professional who wants to do more than process files. You’ll have the opportunity to influence how work is delivered, how technology is used, how clients experience our services and how the practice grows.

Salary commensurate with experience; benefit plan available.

Job Type: Permanent, Full-Time

Additional pay: Bonus pay

Benefits:

  • Disability insurance
  • Employee assistance program
  • Extended health care
  • Life insurance
  • RRSP match

If you are interested, please apply with a cover letter and resume.
