As a Power Engineer 3rd class, you’ll be at the heart of operations - right on the floor where materials take shape.
Your Day-to-day
- Operate and maintain steam boiler, and other utility equipment in accordance with MB Safety Authority regulations.
- Prepare and monitor starch batches used in the manufacturing process, ensuring proper consistency, quality, and supply for production needs.
- Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance to ensure systems are operating safely and efficiently.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair issues within the steam plant.
- Monitor and record system readings, maintain logbooks, and report any abnormalities.
- Assist in the development and implementation of maintenance procedures and safety protocols.
- Support other maintenance tasks and participate in plant shutdowns and startups.
- Collaborate with the production and maintenance teams to minimize downtime.
You Are a Natural Fit For This Role If
- A valid 3rd Class Power Engineer Certificate MB is required for this position.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, and drawings.
- Able to read and understand specifications and drawings and computer literacy.
- Thorough understanding of Safety program procedures
- Able to work with minimum supervision

Responsibilities
Operate and maintain the steam boiler and utility equipment, prepare and monitor starch batches, and perform inspections, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs. Record system readings, report abnormalities, support maintenance procedures and plant shutdowns or startups, and collaborate with production and maintenance teams to minimize downtime.
Requirements
A valid Manitoba 3rd Class Power Engineer Certificate is required. Candidates should have strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills, be able to interpret technical manuals, schematics, specifications, and drawings, understand safety procedures, be computer literate, and work with minimal supervision.
