Commercial Manager
About Cavtera
Cavtera builds digital solutions that connect real-world operations with data, software, and decision-making. We work closely with clients to understand how their businesses operate on the ground, then translate those workflows into scalable applications and data systems using Palantir Foundry.
Our team operates with the pace, ownership, and adaptability of a startup while solving complex operational problems for established businesses. We work directly alongside our clients, from the field to the executive level, to build technology that delivers measurable improvements to how their businesses operate.
The Role
We’re looking for an experienced Commercial Manager to own and grow relationships with Cavtera’s existing clients, ensuring long-term customer satisfaction, retention, and commercial growth.
As a Commercial Manager, you’ll serve as the commercial lead for our existing client relationships. You’ll work closely with Engagement Managers and the Engagement Director to understand engagement performance, identify opportunities for expansion, and translate additional client needs into proposals, agreements, and new business.
While our Engagement Managers focus on delivering successful outcomes, you’ll focus on the broader customer relationship and its long-term commercial success. You’ll be responsible for nurturing executive relationships, understanding evolving business priorities, managing commercial discussions, and ensuring our clients continue to see value in their partnership with Cavtera.
This is not a traditional business development role focused on cold outreach or acquiring new customers. We’re looking for someone who thrives on building trusted, long-term partnerships, understands how to grow accounts organically, and can confidently navigate the commercial aspects of complex consulting engagements.
What You'll Do
- Own existing client relationships: Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, decision-makers, and executives to establish Cavtera as a trusted, long-term partner.
- Drive account growth: Identify and develop opportunities to expand existing engagements, increase account value, and deepen Cavtera’s involvement across client organizations.
- Drive Strategic Executive Engagement: Maintain regular touch points with client leadership through business reviews, on-site visits, and industry events to reinforce value, build organizational trust, and identify growth opportunities.
- Lead commercial discussions: Own the commercial aspects of existing client engagements, including pricing, contract extensions, scope expansions, retainer/support renewals, and negotiations.
- Develop proposals and agreements: Prepare compelling proposals, statements of work, amendments, and commercial agreements that translate identified opportunities into new business.
- Partner with Engagement Managers: Work closely with EMs to understand delivery progress, client needs, and emerging opportunities, taking ownership of the commercial process when additional scope is identified.
- Champion customer success: Proactively monitor client satisfaction, understand evolving business priorities, and ensure customers recognize the value of their partnership with Cavtera.
- Manage account strategy: Develop and maintain account plans that identify key stakeholders, commercial opportunities, engagement risks, and long-term growth potential.
- Coordinate across teams: Collaborate with the Engagement Director, Engagement Managers, Product Manager, and executive leadership to align commercial commitments with delivery capabilities and client expectations.
- Protect and grow recurring business: Anticipate contract expirations, proactively manage retainer/support renewals and extensions, and identify risks to account retention before they become critical.
- Champion Cavtera’s values: Build authentic partnerships grounded in trust, accountability, and a genuine commitment to delivering meaningful business outcomes.
What We're Looking For
- 5–10 years of experience in account management, customer success, client relationship management, or commercial roles within professional services or consulting.
- Proven experience growing existing client accounts through relationship development, engagement expansion, and commercial negotiations.
- Exceptional relationship-building skills, with the ability to establish trust and credibility with senior executives and decision-makers.
- Strong commercial acumen, including experience with pricing, proposals, statements of work, contract negotiations, and account profitability.
- Experience managing complex B2B client relationships with multiple stakeholders and long sales or decision-making cycles.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the confidence to lead executive-level discussions and represent Cavtera professionally.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple client relationships, commercial opportunities, and competing priorities.
- A proactive, relationship-first approach to identifying opportunities and solving customer challenges.
- The ability to collaborate effectively with delivery teams while maintaining clear ownership of commercial responsibilities.
- A high degree of autonomy, accountability, and comfort operating in a fast-paced, growing organization.
- Willingness to regularly travel to client sites, industry events, and strategic client engagements.
