About this opportunity
In addition to providing rehabilitation services for individuals, CBI Health also provides a number of services focused on injury prevention including Workplace Education, Pre-employment Functional testing, and Occupational Testing to ensure workers are successful in the workplace. CBI Health is seeking a professional Occupational Health Technician to join our team at our Red Deer McKenzie location. In this role, you will represent our accredited, innovative community healthcare organization while delivering high-quality occupational health testing services that support employers and their employees.
The Occupational Health Technician plays a key role in supporting workplace safety by following strict protocols and contractual standards for occupational health referrals, including drug, alcohol, and DNA testing for pre-employment, post-accident, and random testing programs. This role requires a strong commitment to accuracy, confidentiality, and professional service delivery, ensuring specimen collections and supporting documentation are completed with precision and minimal margin for error.
Working within a fast-paced clinical environment, you will contribute to effective scheduling coordination and employer service delivery while maintaining a compassionate, customer-focused approach. This position is well suited to a reliable, detail-oriented professional who balances accountability and efficiency with a caring, client-centered mindset.
Responsibilities will include:
- Perform scheduled drug and alcohol testing as per specific referral protocols which can include urine dip testing, oral fluid testing, spirometry, audiometric testing, and mask fitting.
- Perform post incident drug & alcohol testing (may be after hours)
- Schedule appointments for clients and answer questions/inquiries from referral sources
- Ensure adequate supplies and equipment in order to provide services
- Be responsible for data entry and billing and other general administrative duties as required
Qualifications:
- Experience and certification in Drug and Alcohol collections, Spirometry and Audiometry testing would be an asset, however training and certification could be available for the right candidate.
- Ability to work flexible hours and occasionally after hours when needed
- Valid CPR and First aid
- Have a professional customer service attitude
- Work well in a fast-paced environment
- Have excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Reliable, confident and accountable
The successful candidate will be required to complete online training through our CBI education portal.
