Role Description The Foreman role at CEC is a full-time, on-site position based in Fort McMurray, AB. This role is responsible for leading field crews on erosion control, containment, and reclamation projects, ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications and regulatory requirements. Day-to-day duties include planning and organizing daily tasks, assigning work to crew members, overseeing heavy equipment operations, and supporting installation of geomembrane liners, ESC measures, retaining walls, and related civil works. The Foreman monitors site conditions, coordinates materials and equipment, conducts safety meetings, and maintains clear communication with project managers, clients, and subcontractors. The role also includes on-site problem solving, quality checks, basic maintenance of tools and equipment, and accurate reporting of progress, documentation, and timesheets.
Qualifications
- Strong supervisory skills, including crew leadership, task planning, and on-site decision-making.
- Hands-on experience operating or overseeing heavy equipment commonly used in civil and environmental construction.
- Clear and professional communication skills for coordinating with crews, project managers, and clients.
- Practical skills in carpentry or related trades applicable to site structures, retaining walls, and temporary works.
- Ability to perform and oversee routine maintenance on tools, equipment, and job-site infrastructure.
- Previous experience in civil construction, environmental services, or erosion and sediment control is an asset.
- Demonstrated commitment to workplace safety, environmental stewardship, and regulatory compliance.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to work in outdoor, remote, and varying weather conditions.
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or certifications (e.g., ESC, equipment operation,
