Corporate Profile

Canada Enterprise Emergency Funding Corp. (CEEFC) administers and manages the Large Employer Emergency Financing Facility (LEEFF), the Large Employer Tariff Loan (LETL) facility, and Liquidity for Airline Sector Resilience (LASR) facility, federally backed loan facilities for strategic sectors in the Canadian economy.

Initially launched during COVID-19, CEEFC’s loan facilities protect Canadian jobs and the Canadian economy by helping Canadian businesses remain solvent in times of significant economic shock. Loans provided under these facilities are intended for otherwise viable large organizations that are unable to quickly access traditional sources of capital to manage and bridge liquidity needs through periods of significant economic uncertainty.

CEEFC is one of the Canada Development Investment Corporation (CDEV) group of companies.

Overview

CEEFC is seeking an Associate, Portfolio Management, to join its nimble team of highly experienced professionals. Reporting to the Director, Portfolio Management & Special Loans, the Associate will support the ongoing oversight of CEEFC’s credit facilities throughout their lifecycle, with a focus on financial analysis, covenant compliance, borrower performance, portfolio reporting, and the early identification of credit risks.

The Associate will work closely with the Director, internal deal teams, relationship managers, and other stakeholders to maintain high-quality credit monitoring and support sound risk-management decisions. This role offers broad exposure to complex financing transactions, portfolio management, and special-loan situations across a diverse range of industries.

The selected candidate will ideally be based in Ottawa, where CDEV offices currently offer a hybrid work option; however, highly qualified candidates located elsewhere in Canada may also be considered.

Key Responsibilities

· Monitor approved credit facilities, including financial performance, liquidity, covenants, reporting, security, and key terms.

· Maintain covenant trackers, reporting schedules, watchlists, dashboards, and other portfolio monitoring records.

· Analyze financial statements, forecasts, operating results, and industry trends to identify variances, early warning signs, and emerging credit risks.

· Escalate credit concerns, covenant breaches, reporting gaps, and other material developments.

· Support the monitoring of higher-risk and special-loan files, including assessing liquidity performing sensitivity analysis, evaluating recovery prospects, and remedial actions.

· Build and review financial models, including forecasts, debt-service capacity assessments, and sensitivity and “what-if” analyses.

· Conduct sector, market, comparable-company, and transaction research to support credit and portfolio decisions.

· Prepare credit memos, reports, briefing notes, presentations, and recommendations for senior management.

· Coordinate external advisors, review deliverables, and track outstanding diligence and follow-up items.

· Prepare materials and follow-ups for meetings with borrowers, advisors, government representatives and other external stakeholders.

· Collaborate with deal teams, relationship managers, and credit committees to support informed decision-making.

· Improve portfolio-management processes, templates, reporting tools, data quality, and risk-monitoring practices.

Qualifications, Skills and Attributes

· Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, business, or a related field.

· Three to five years of relevant experience in credit analysis, lending, debt financing, transaction advisory, valuation, investment appraisal, or portfolio management.

· Experience assessing creditworthiness, financial performance, liquidity, leverage, debt-service capacity, and covenant compliance.

· Understanding of credit agreements, covenants, debt instruments, security, and corporate lending practices.

· Exposure to portfolio monitoring, watchlists, distressed credit, restructuring, or special-loan situations is an asset.

· Ability to build, maintain, and interpret financial models and conduct sensitivity and scenario analysis.

· Strong analytical skills, sound judgment, and the ability to identify risks, investigate variances, and draw supported conclusions.

· Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accurate, complete, high-quality work.

· Ability to prepare clear, concise reports, briefing materials, and recommendations for senior management.

· Strong interpersonal and communication skills with colleagues, borrowers, advisors, and government stakeholders.

· Advanced proficiency in Microsoft suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

· Experience with Bloomberg, FactSet, Power BI, VBA, or similar tools are assets.

· Strong organizational and project-management skills, including the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.

· Proactive, adaptable, and with the ability to work independently, seek guidance, and escalate issues when appropriate.

· Collaborative and team-oriented, with the flexibility to contribute across industries and assignments.

· Professional designation or progress toward one, such as CFA, CPA, CBV, or related credentials, is an asset.

· Proficiency in both official languages is an asset.
