Job Type: 16–18 Month Contract

Location: Calgary, AB (Hybrid – Monday, Tuesday, Thursday in office)

Description

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Communications Manager to lead the business and content transformation of an enterprise corporate website ecosystem. This high-impact role is focused on driving business and digital communications priorities through a major platform migration to a modern, headless Sitecore AI-enabled environment.

Rather than writing code or managing IT infrastructure, you will serve as the primary bridge connecting corporate communications, diverse content owners, internal IT/security architects, and external agency development partners. You will champion communication priorities, ensuring the future-state digital architecture supports complex corporate narratives, reputation marketing, seamless user journeys, and intuitive authoring workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Project Lifecycle Leadership: Lead the business side of the website transformation from initial discovery and requirements definition through design, content migration, testing, launch, and post-implementation adoption.
  • Technical Translation & Agile Delivery: Translate corporate communication priorities, PR narratives, and campaign requirements into actionable user stories, functional specifications, backlog items, and wireframe critiques for external agency development teams.
  • Agency & Vendor Management: Act as the primary business liaison for agency partners, holding them accountable to deliver modular, flexible components that allow content teams to build dynamic layouts without developer intervention.
  • Authoring Experience (UX) Stewardship: Advocate for internal content creators by ensuring the delivery of an intuitive, clean back-end authoring interface in Sitecore that minimizes workflow friction.
  • Content Strategy & Migration: Oversee content rationalization, mapping, and migration; establish robust taxonomy structures, metadata strategies, governance standards, and publishing workflows.
  • Testing & Quality Assurance: Coordinate user acceptance testing (UAT), validating business requirements, migrated content, usability, and compliance with WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility standards prior to launch.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with IT and security architects to balance technical parameters with flexible storytelling capabilities; align diverse business units around a unified digital roadmap.
  • Change Management & Training: Design and execute structured training paths and change management initiatives to upskill internal content authors on the new Sitecore AI platform.
  • Search Optimization & Discoverability: Partner with cross-functional teams to integrate traditional SEO, internal site search, and emerging AI-search readiness/GEO principles into the platform architecture.

Requirements

  • Professional Experience: 10–15+ years of senior-level digital communications, content strategy, or digital product ownership experience within large, complex corporate enterprise environments.
  • Enterprise CMS & Migration Expertise: Proven track record of leading large-scale corporate website migrations, modernizations, or rebuilds using enterprise platforms (e.g., Sitecore, Adobe Experience Manager) from a business user/product owner perspective.
  • Technical Translation & Agile Proficiency: Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with IT architects and agency developers using Agile delivery methodologies (sprint planning, backlog management, user stories, and UAT).
  • Content Architecture & Governance: Deep understanding of enterprise taxonomy, metadata strategy, content lifecycle management, and publishing workflows that support corporate reputation and brand visibility.
  • Standards & Optimization Knowledge: Working knowledge of WCAG 2.2 AA digital accessibility standards, SEO, site search optimization, and digital analytics.
  • Stakeholder & Vendor Management: Exceptional executive presence and relationship-building skills, with a proven ability to manage agency partners and align competing priorities across diverse business groups.

Nice-to-Have Skills:

  • Hands-on experience with Headless Sitecore and AI-enabled CMS environments.
  • Familiarity with emerging AI-search readiness and Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) principles.
  • Experience designing internal authoring training paths and enterprise change management programs.
