About This Position

The Handover/Turnover Coordinator, is responsible for coordinating project handover and turnover activities from construction completion through final acceptance by the Client. The Handover/Turnover Coordinator works closely with Construction, Engineering, Quality, Commissioning, Document Control and Client representatives to ensure completed work is inspected, documented and turned over in accordance with project requirements, specifications and schedules.

The Handover/Turnover Coordinator will maintain turnover documentation, track completion status and deficiencies, document and track the turnover readiness of Construction Work Packages and Subsystems and coordinate walkdowns and ensure turnover packages are complete, accurate and ready for Client review and acceptance.

Key Responsibilities

Health and Safety

Work in compliance with all Health and Safety rules and regulations for Cementation
Be aware of any health and safety hazards or infractions and report same to Health and Safety Department
Maintain a safe and organized workspace, including when working at project sites and in technology‑related environments.

General Duties And Responsibilities

Coordinate project handover and turnover activities in accordance with project procedures, specifications, schedules and Client requirements.
Develop, assemble, maintain and track turnover packages for assigned systems, subsystems, areas and/or work packages.
Work closely with Engineering, Quality, Commissioning, Document Control and Client representatives to ensure turnover requirements are identified and completed.
Prepare and review redlines and as built documents.
Assist in Technical Query (RFI) management, close out, and tracking.
Review turnover documentation for completeness and accuracy prior to submission to the Client.
Maintain turnover logs, registers and tracking systems to accurately report the status of turnover packages and completed work.
Identify missing, incomplete or deficient documentation and coordinate with appropriate project personnel to resolve outstanding items.
Document, maintain and track punch list items and deficiencies identified during inspections and walkdowns through to completion and closeout.
Coordinate with Construction and Quality personnel to ensure outstanding work and deficiencies are completed in accordance with project priorities and schedules.
Coordinate and maintain accurate turnover package reviews and obtain required approvals and sign-offs from applicable project and Client representatives.
Track and communicate turnover priorities, upcoming milestones, outstanding documentation and potential schedule impacts to project management.
Assist with establishing turnover sequencing and priorities in accordance with the project construction and commissioning schedule.
Formulate and maintain the subsystem turnover schedule based on the construction L4 schedule.
Assist with project closeout activities and ensure final turnover documentation is properly organized and transferred to the Client.
Identify and assess Client needs and work diligently to respond and solve any problems, issues or concerns in a timely manner.
Liaise with the Client and project teams and host turnover meetings to discuss progress.
Ensure applicable procedures and work standards for all tasks are understood, adhered to and complied with at all times.
Other such duties as may be assigned.

Education And Experience

Post-secondary education in Engineering Technology, Construction Management, Mining, Engineering or a related technical discipline.
Previous experience in construction completion, QA/QC, commissioning, handover/turnover or project closeout is considered an asset.
Minimum 5 years of experience in mining, heavy industrial construction, project turnover, commissioning, quality assurance/quality control, document control or a related field.
Experience in the environmental/mining industry or equivalent preferred.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

Strong understanding of construction completion, handover, turnover and commissioning processes.
Knowledge of turnover packages, inspection and test documentation, quality records, punch lists and project closeout requirements.
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, procedures and technical documentation.
Strong organizational and document management skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Able to effectively prioritize workload to ensure project deadlines and turnover milestones are met.
Able to build and maintain lasting relationships with other departments, Client representatives, key business partners and other stakeholders.
Able to communicate effectively with Construction, Engineering, Quality, Commissioning and Client personnel.
Strong problem identification and problem resolution skills.
Able to work efficiently as part of a team as well as independently.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Power BI, and Outlook.
Working knowledge of ProjectWise, Auto Desk DOCs, Smart Plant Foundation, MCPlus and other project document management systems is considered an asset.
Experience with cloud based AI work platforms such as Monday.com is considered an asset.
Experience with completions, turnover or commissioning tracking systems is considered an asset.
