Job Summary: We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Engineer or Engineer-in-Training to join our team specializing in static equipment. This role involves maintaining and improving reliability for all static equipment classes (e.g. piping, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, furnaces, tanks etc.) to enable the safe operation of the CNOOC Long Lake SAGD and Upgrader facility. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in mechanical engineering principles and a keen interest in static equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparation of high-quality engineering packages (both turnaround and running maintenance) to ensure the reliability of the plant and the safety of employees. This includes:
- Repair packages (both emergency and routine maintenance)
- Improvements, i.e. scope, justify and propose changes that can improve safety, reliability, and productivity of the plant
- Participate in development of Management of change (MOC) with focus on improving safety and reliability
- Ensure engineering work complies with CNOOC standards as well as industry's codes and standards (e.g. ASME SEC. VIII Div.1, B31.3, API 530, API 650 etc.)
- Provide technical support for operation, maintenance, outage and turnaround activities.
- Provide improvement recommendations to plant reliability through innovative engineering solutions that resolve root cause of problems.
- Work with the inspection team to proactively identify, prioritize and justify pressure equipment and piping repairs/ replacement based on equipment strategy, condition monitoring and assessments
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from a Canadian University or equivalent as recognized by APEGA
- 2-3 years of experience in static equipment or a related area (internships and co-op experience considered).
- Must be eligible for E.I.T membership with APEGA
- Basic understanding of mechanical design principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Programs.
- Experience in SAP is a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
- Eagerness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with industry standards such as API, ASME, ANSI and ISO.
- Knowledge of static mechanical equipment and piping in a SAGD and Upgrader operation is an asset.
- Familiarity with materials selection and damage mechanisms relevant to SAGD and Upgrader equipment is an asset.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions especially in extreme cold climate.
- Ability to climb straight ladders. Some work may require heights over 100 feet.
- Wearing industrial Oil & Gas plant uniforms and PPE as required.
