About this opportunity:

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Facilities Engineering, the Facilities Engineer provides mechanical engineering and process safety support to help ensure safe, reliable, and productive operations at the Christina Lake SAGD facility. The role provides day-to-day technical support for facility issues, develops engineering solutions, supports risk assessments and Management of Change activities, and manages small to medium-sized projects while working collaboratively with Operations, Maintenance, Integrity, and Construction teams.

This position is located at Christina Lake.

Work Environment:

This is a full-time employee position working a day shift rotation.
All Oil Sands Operations sites have full-service camp facilities and recreational amenities.

Transportation:

Depending on your place of residence and your shift rotation, bus and/or air transportation to/from site is offered from designated departure points in select locations.
Christina Lake have service flight Hubs in Calgary, Edmonton and Saskatoon. There is also bus transportation to these sites from La Corey, AB / Lac La Biche, AB.

What you’ll do:

Provide immediate on-site technical support and expertise on facility non-routine repairs, mechanical alterations/workarounds, alternate products or materials and new equipment installations.
Troubleshoot mechanical and operational issues and develop fit-for-purpose engineering solutions that support safe and reliable operations.
Apply and interpret corporate specifications, engineering standards, and applicable codes and regulations (ASME, CSA, API) when developing engineering recommendations.
Support integrity management programs and processes, including Pressure Equipment Integrity Management System (PEIMS).
Prepare project scoping packages, including preliminary design, constructability reviews, risk identification, and cost estimates.
Facilitate or participate Risk Assessments and Project Hazard Assessments.
Identify opportunities to improve reliability, safety, environmental performance, and operating efficiency.

Who you are:

Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:

Legally authorized to work in Canada.
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
P.Eng. designation with APEGA.
4 years minimum of relevant engineering experience.
Field experience supporting operating facilities is considered an asset.
Working knowledge of pressure equipment, piping systems, tanks, rotating equipment, and applicable mechanical engineering codes.
Familiarity with integrity management programs, Management of Change processes, and process safety principles.

We acknowledge the value of transferrable skills and may consider equivalent combinations of experience and education should you not meet a specific requirement.

As this position has been identified as safety sensitive, employment of a final candidate selected for this position will be conditional upon successful completion of required pre-employment medical and alcohol/drug assessments.

For this position you will be required to maintain a Class 5 driver's license, a satisfactory driving record, and adhere to the appropriate Company policies and guidelines. A driver's abstract will be one of the background checks requested in the pre-employment screening for the final candidate.
