Job Purpose

The Sales Representative (External) is responsible for maintaining and growing an assigned customer base while driving sales, margin growth, and customer satisfaction within the Richmond, BC market. Reporting to the Sales Manager, this role develops strong customer relationships, identifies new business opportunities, promotes company products and specialty offerings, and serves as a trusted partner to customers through value-added sales and market expertise. The Sales Representative also supports account management activities, including collections, new account development, promotional planning, and communication of market trends and product innovations.

Essential Functions

Manage and grow an existing customer portfolio through regular sales calls and customer visits.
Utilize call sheets and established sales processes to maximize customer engagement and sales growth.
Increase sales volume and profitability within the assigned territory and customer base.
Identify and secure new business opportunities following company protocols and account onboarding procedures.
Collect and reconcile customer account balances by distributing statements, processing credits, and ensuring invoices are paid according to payment terms.
Collaborate with customers to develop and implement weekly advertising and promotional programs that drive sales growth.
Promote protein specialty products and Made at Centennial items to expand product penetration within customer accounts.
Introduce and support new product lines and innovations in the marketplace.
Maintain a strong understanding of market conditions, industry trends, product offerings, and competitive activity, sharing relevant insights with customers as part of value-added service.
Attend regular sales meetings, training sessions, virtual meetings, and the annual March sales conference.
Maintain accurate customer records, sales activity reports, and account information.
Foster positive relationships with customers, colleagues, and internal departments to support business objectives.
Travel throughout the assigned territory to meet with customers and prospect new business opportunities.

Qualifications (Education, Experience)

1 to 2 years of progressive sales experience in a similar-sized organization; a combination of post-secondary education and relevant experience will also be considered.
1 to 3 years of related food industry, distribution, or sales experience required.
Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships.
Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with customers, colleagues, and management.
Strong computer proficiency, including experience using Microsoft Office applications and customer management systems.
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently in both office and field environments.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability and willingness to travel regularly within the assigned territory.
Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record required.
