Job Purpose
The Production Supervisor (Poultry) is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the poultry production department at B&C Food Solutions. Reporting to the Production Manager, this role ensures the efficient processing and production of poultry products while maintaining the highest standards of food safety, quality assurance, inventory control, and employee performance. The Production Supervisor will lead production staff, coordinate workflow, support continuous improvement initiatives, and ensure compliance with HACCP requirements and company operating procedures.
Essential Functions
- Supervise and lead production staff within the poultry production room, ensuring productivity, quality, and safety standards are maintained.
- Manage employee scheduling, workload distribution, attendance, and overtime requirements to meet production targets.
- Monitor and maintain quality control and quality assurance standards for all products entering and leaving the production department.
- Oversee the production and processing of frozen poultry products, including portioning, grinding, and packaging activities.
- Coordinate with the Production Manager regarding fresh and frozen inventory levels to ensure product availability and minimize shortages.
- Manage inventory requisitions and movement of product into and out of the production room.
- Ensure work-in-progress (W.I.P.) inventory records are accurate, current, and properly identified with production codes, dates, and product information.
- Ensure all HACCP procedures are followed and that required documentation is completed, maintained, and filed accurately.
- Enforce compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and collaborate with management on implementing process improvements that increase operational efficiency and effectiveness.
- Assist in production activities as required, including cutting, portioning, grinding, packing, and other processing functions.
- Promote a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
- Train, coach, and support production employees to ensure consistent performance and adherence to company standards.
- Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications (Education, Experience)
- 1-2 years of supervisory experience in a food processing, meat processing, poultry production, or related manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of chicken, turkey, and duck cuts is required.
- Previous cutting and meat processing experience is considered an asset.
- Experience working with inventory management and production tracking systems is preferred.
- Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
- Ability to effectively communicate expectations, assign tasks, and motivate team members.
- Ability to work flexible shifts and varying schedules when operational requirements demand.
- Previous food manufacturing or processing experience is an asset.
- HACCP knowledge and food safety experience are preferred.
- Training will be provided where required.
