Position Description
This role is hybrid and requires you to be at our downtown Toronto and/or Client office at a minimum 2 days per week subject to change at any time.
We are seeking an experienced QE Lead with strong hands-on Python automation expertise to lead quality engineering for complex integration solutions connecting APIs, microservices, databases, and downstream enterprise applications.
Your future duties and responsibilities
The successful candidate will validate end-to-end data flows across upstream systems, integration services, APIs, and downstream applications. This role will define the testing strategy, coordinate testing across multiple technology teams, and develop scalable Python-based automation frameworks for API, data validation, and regression testing.
- Define and lead the overall QE strategy for complex integration solutions.
- Develop test plans, scenarios, and cases covering API, integration, regression, end-to-end, negative, and data testing.
- Validate data flows across upstream systems, APIs, microservices, databases, messaging platforms, and downstream applications.
- Perform API testing, including payloads, schemas, authentication, business rules, error handling, and response validation.
- Conduct source-to-target validation, data transformation testing, reconciliation, and database testing using SQL.
- Design and develop scalable Python automation frameworks for API, integration, data validation, and regression testing.
- Integrate automated tests with CI/CD pipelines and manage automated test execution.
- Analyze test failures and troubleshoot issues across applications, APIs, databases, environments, and integration layers.
- Coordinate testing across development, data, infrastructure, and downstream application teams.
- Lead defect triage, root-cause analysis, retesting, and issue resolution.
- Manage test data, environments, dependencies, risks, and integration readiness.
- Track and communicate test coverage, execution status, defects, quality metrics, and release risks.
- Provide technical leadership, conduct code reviews, and mentor QE team members.
- Support Agile ceremonies, release validation, production readiness, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications To Be Successful In This Role
- 7+ years of experience in Quality Engineering, Software Testing, or Test Automation.
- Experience leading complex integration testing initiatives across multiple systems.
- Strong hands-on Python/Java development and test automation experience.
- Proven experience designing and developing Python-based automation frameworks.
- Strong experience testing REST APIs and microservices.
- Strong understanding of API contracts, JSON/XML payloads, schemas, authentication, error handling, and response validation.
- Experience with source-to-target validation, data transformation testing, and reconciliation.
- Strong SQL skills and experience validating data across databases.
- Experience testing integration architectures involving upstream producers and multiple downstream consumers.
- Experience testing asynchronous, event-driven, and messaging-based architectures.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated regression execution.
- Strong understanding of test data management and environment dependencies.
- Ability to analyze complex integration failures and trace issues across multiple systems.
- Strong communication, analytical, coordination, and stakeholder management skills.
Updated Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with Murex or similar enterprise platforms.
- Experience in Capital Markets, banking, or other financial services domains.
- Understanding of financial or transactional data flows.
- Experience with Kafka or similar messaging technologies.
- Experience with automated data reconciliation and high-volume data validation.
- Experience working on large transformation programs involving multiple applications, vendors, and delivery teams.
- Experience coordinating testing across geographically distributed or matrixed teams.

The determination of this range includes factors such as skill set level, geographic market, experience and training, and licenses and certifications. Compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $85,000–$135,000. This role is an existing vacancy."
