Original job description
The Senior Enterprise Architecture Consultant owns and governs the end to end target state architecture for a large scale enterprise modernization and legacy transition program. The role translates business strategy into solution architecture and facilitates collaboration across the corporate ecosystem to deliver business outcomes.
The role leads solution architecture, design, and analysis across digital services, application development, data, integration, cloud, security, DevOps, and operations. The role defines architectural patterns and roadmaps that support modern applications and services, and the transition of legacy capabilities while maintaining continuity of business operations.
The Senior Enterprise Architecture Consultant provides technical leadership to senior engineers and stream architects, balancing near term delivery needs with long term architectural integrity. The role ensures solutions are scalable, performant, secure, compliant, and reusable. The architectural patterns, service designs, standards, and governance models established for this flagship program are intended to become foundational assets for future transformation initiatives.

- Participate in solution assessments and technology selection, evaluating alignment with business outcomes, enterprise direction, security, cost, delivery needs, and operational requirements.
- Monitor solution development and provide design oversight, mentorship, and guidance to delivery teams.
- Establish governance practices that support consistent architecture decisions across workstreams and future initiatives.
- Define and govern the end to end target state architecture bridging legacy mainframe systems, ESB, and native AWS cloud services.
- Guide the transition of legacy applications, data, and capabilities to modern platforms while maintaining service continuity.
- Define migration, coexistence, reconciliation, synchronization, cutover, rollback, and decommissioning approaches.
- Establish integration patterns across mainframe technologies and cloud services.
- Define interface and messaging contracts, service boundaries, data flows, versioning, error handling, recovery, and operational ownership.
- Ensure transition designs address data quality, privacy, security, performance, auditability, and business readiness.
- Guide the architecture and design of modern customer facing and internal applications and services.
- Ensure application designs support accessibility, usability, availability, performance, security, maintainability, and interoperability.
- Define reusable application, API, and service patterns that enable modular development and consistent delivery across business capabilities.
- Work with business, product, user experience, engineering, and operations teams to turn service requirements into implementable architecture.
- Balance incremental application delivery with the longer term modernization roadmap, including dependencies on legacy systems and data.
- Define software delivery strategies appropriate for a large organization operating across hybrid on premises and cloud environments.
- Establish architectural patterns for high performance identity clustering and the unification and reconciliation of customer and organizational data.
- Guide Python based matching services and related data processing, validation, and stewardship patterns.
- Define OpenSearch based indexing and query patterns that support relevant, performant, and explainable search capabilities.
- Ensure identity, matching, and search designs address data ownership, quality, lineage, privacy, security, scalability, and operational support.
- Align data and search architecture with upstream integration patterns and downstream application and business needs.
- Ensure architectural alignment across integration, data, security, application, cloud, DevOps, and operational layers.
- Define secure, resilient, and compliant cloud architectures, with a preference for AWS and experience across hybrid on premises and cloud environments.
- Guide the appropriate use of AWS services, including API Gateway, Lambda, messaging, storage, database, networking, and monitoring capabilities.
- Integrate architecture with software delivery practices, including automated build, test, deployment, infrastructure management, and environment promotion.
- Address identity and access management, encryption, secrets management, audit logging, monitoring, disaster recovery, business continuity, availability, and capacity.
