Position Description
CGI is looking for an experienced Full Stack Developer to work on challenging assignments related to the modernization and evolution of large-scale financial applications.
We are looking for a Full Stack Developer with hands-on expertise in both Angular-based front-end development and Java/Spring-based back-end development, along with demonstrated experience designing, developing, deploying, and supporting applications in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) environments.
The successful candidate will have experience building modern, responsive web applications using Angular, TypeScript, HTML5, and CSS; integrating user interfaces with REST APIs and back-end services; and developing scalable back-end solutions using Java, Spring Boot, and Spring Batch.
The role also requires experience with cloud-native application architecture, GCP services, CI/CD, microservices, distributed systems, APIs, databases, and large-scale batch processing.
Collaboration and communication skills are required to work effectively with Product Owners, architects, Business Analysts, QA teams, DevOps teams, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into scalable and maintainable technical solutions.
This role is hybrid and requires you to work from our Markham office a minimum of 2 to 3 days per week, subject to change at any time.
Your future duties and responsibilities
- Work with Product Owners, Business Analysts, architects, and development team members to define and implement new features and enhancements for complex enterprise applications.
- Design, develop, enhance, and support Angular-based web applications, with a focus on usability, maintainability, performance, and reusable UI components.
- Develop and integrate Angular applications with RESTful APIs and Java/Spring Boot back-end services.
- Participate in front-end and back-end application architecture and technical design activities.
- Design and develop scalable back-end services using Java, Spring Boot, Spring Batch, JPA, REST APIs, and related technologies.
- Develop and enhance applications deployed within Google Cloud Platform (GCP) environments.
- Participate in application modernization and cloud migration initiatives, including the migration of existing enterprise applications to GCP.
- Apply cloud-native and microservices design patterns where appropriate.
- Participate in sprint planning, technical discussions, estimation, and daily development activities.
- Perform code reviews with peers and technical leads to ensure adherence to architecture standards, coding practices, security standards, and user story requirements.
- Develop automated unit tests and support integration and regression testing.
- Troubleshoot complex application issues across UI, API, application, database, batch, and cloud infrastructure layers.
- Support performance analysis and optimization of UI, API, database, and batch processing components.
- Contribute to CI/CD automation and deployment processes for applications hosted in cloud environments.
- Work effectively with distributed and cross-functional teams in a matrix organization.
- Provide technical guidance and support to other development team members as required.
Required Qualifications To Be Successful In This Role
- 8+ years of experience in full-stack application development using Java/Spring and modern web technologies.
- Experience working with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and deploying or supporting enterprise applications in GCP environments.
- Hands-on experience developing enterprise applications using Angular, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS.
- Knowledge of Angular architecture, components, services, routing, forms, dependency injection, RxJS, state/data handling, and REST API integration.
- Experience with Java/J2EE, Spring Boot, Spring Framework, Spring Batch, JPA/Hibernate, RESTful Web Services, and JSON.
- Experience designing and developing REST APIs.
- Hands-on understanding of relevant GCP capabilities such as Compute/GKE, networking, IAM, Cloud Storage, logging/monitoring, databases, and application deployment services.
- Experience with application modernization and migration to GCP is strongly preferred.
- Understanding of cloud-native architecture, containerization, Kubernetes, microservices, scalability, resiliency, and distributed system design patterns.
- 8+ years of experience with Oracle Database and SQL development and performance analysis.
- Experience developing and supporting large-scale batch processing applications.
- Code analysis and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to analyze large and complex codebases and identify root causes of application issues.
- Experience with API management platforms such as Kong, Apigee, or equivalent technologies.
- Experience implementing and supporting CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation in cloud environments.
- Experience with source control and build technologies such as Bitbucket/Git, Maven, Jenkins, or equivalent CI/CD tools.
- Experience developing automated unit tests using JUnit or similar testing frameworks.
- Experience with application servers and servlet containers such as Tomcat and WebLogic.
- Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes/OpenShift environments.
- Understanding of application security, authentication/authorization, and secure API development practices.
- Experience working within an Agile/Scrum development methodology.
- Demonstrated ability to learn and apply new technologies and frameworks.
- Verbal and written communication skills.
- Collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively across different teams within a matrix organization.
- CGI is providing a reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role. The determination of this range includes factors such as skill set level, geographic market, experience and training, and licenses and certifications. Compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $95,000–$145,000. This role is an existing vacancy.
