Position Description
The Senior Network Administrator is responsible for the day to day administration, monitoring, maintenance, troubleshooting, and support of enterprise network infrastructure, ensuring secure, stable, resilient, and highly available services. The role supports routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and related network services across production, test, and disaster recovery environments. The Senior Network Administrator works closely with network engineers, security specialists, infrastructure teams, application support teams, vendors, and other stakeholders to resolve incidents, implement controlled changes, support lifecycle and security initiatives, and drive continuous service improvement. The role requires strong enterprise networking expertise, advanced troubleshooting capabilities, disciplined change management practices, and experience supporting complex, business critical environments.
Your future duties and responsibilities
s a Senior Network Administrator, you will provide hands-on operational support for a complex enterprise network supporting business-critical services. This role requires close collaboration with infrastructure, security, application support, engineering, vendor, and service delivery teams to maintain secure, stable, resilient, and highly available network services.
You will troubleshoot complex technical issues, implement controlled changes, maintain operational documentation, and contribute to modernization and continuous improvement initiatives.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Administer and support routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and related network services.
- Monitor network health, capacity, utilization, availability, and performance.
- Investigate and resolve network incidents, service disruptions, connectivity issues, and performance problems.
- Participate in major incident response, technical escalations, root cause analysis, and problem management.
- Implement network changes in accordance with established change management processes.
- Support network hardware and software lifecycle activities.
- Review network configurations for alignment with operational and security standards.
- Assist with vulnerability remediation and infrastructure security initiatives.
- Administer firewall policies, access control lists (ACLs), routing protocols, virtual private networks (VPNs), and related network technologies.
- Participate in disaster recovery and business continuity exercises.
- Develop and maintain network documentation, diagrams, standards, procedures, runbooks, and knowledge articles.
- Identify opportunities to improve network stability, resilience, security, and operational efficiency.
- Support automation, standardization, modernization, and continuous service improvement initiatives.
- Participate in operational reporting and service review activities.
- Communicate technical information clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Participate in an after-hours on-call rotation supporting critical business services.
Required Qualifications To Be Successful In This Role
Five (5) or more years of experience in network administration, network operations, or a related infrastructure support role.
- Strong knowledge of Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) networking.
- Strong knowledge of routing and switching technologies.
- Experience with virtual local area networks (VLANs) and Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking.
- Knowledge of Domain Name System (DNS), Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), and network security fundamentals.
- Experience supporting production enterprise network environments.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex network connectivity and performance issues.
- Experience working within incident, problem, and change management processes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience with Cisco switching and routing platforms.
- Experience administering Check Point and Fortinet firewalls.
- Experience supporting F5 load balancers.
- Knowledge of OSPF and BGP routing protocols.
- Experience with HSRP and Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol (VRRP).
- Experience administering firewall policies and access control lists (ACLs).
- Knowledge of wide area networks (WANs) and Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS).
- Experience with virtual private networks (VPNs) and remote access technologies.
- Experience with network monitoring and alerting platforms.
- Knowledge of high-availability and resilient network architectures.
- Experience supporting financial services or another highly regulated environment.
- Exposure to hybrid cloud and modern networking technologies.

Education and Certification:
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), or an equivalent industry certification is considered an asset.
- Equivalent combinations of relevant education, certification, and enterprise networking experience may be considered.
CGI is providing a reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role. The determination of this range includes factors such as skill set level, geographic market, experience and training, and licenses and certifications. Compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $70,000- $120,000. This role is an existing vacancy.
