Original job description

Position Description

Build your career with one of Canada's largest home-grown technology consulting organizations and become a true owner in the company to help you grow.

CGI is a proudly Canadian company with deep roots across the country and a global presence spanning 100+ offices worldwide. Our partners (we use "partners" because you share in the ownership of the company) shape the future of technology through meaningful work, long term client relationships, and a culture built on accountability, respect and collaboration.

This hybrid position requires 3 days per week from any one of our Atlantic offices: Halifax, NS; Moncton, NB; Fredericton, NB; Stratford, PE; or St. John's, NL.

As an SDET at CGI, you'll work as a trusted technical consultant within a distributed team, contributing to high impact testing initiatives for a major Canadian financial institution. You'll help shape quality strategies, build automation frameworks, and ensure the delivery of reliable, secure, and scalable software.

Your future duties and responsibilities

Analyze requirements and perform quality risk assessments
Support the creation of test strategies and test plans
Develop and maintain test cases, automated scripts, and traceability matrices
Identify and prepare test data
Ensure adherence to quality processes and best practices
Execute system and integration test scripts
Detect, log, and retest defects
Participate lessons learned and knowledge sharing sessions
Communicate testing progress to leads and clients
Produce internal and client facing status reports
Maintain strong knowledge of testing methodologies and best practices
Mentor and coach other partners

Required Qualifications To Be Successful In This Role

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, Business or equivalent experience
3+ years of hand on software testing experience
Experience working in Canadian banking or financial services
Strong Java programming skills for automation and algorithmic problem solving
3+ years with test management tools (e.g. JIRA)
3+ years with functional automation test tools (e.g. Selenium)
Working experience with API automation test tools (e.g. REST Assured, ParaSoft SOATest)
Working knowledge of SDLC
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Asset Qualifications:

ISTQB Foundation or other testing certifications
Experience with accessibility testing tools (e.g. JAWS, etc.)
Experience working with mobile test tools (e.g. Perfecto, Appium, etc.)

CGI is providing a reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role. The determination of this range includes factors such as skill set level, geographic market, experience and training, and licenses and certifications. Compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $55,000 - $110,000

Together, as owners, let’s turn meaningful insights into action.

Life at CGI is rooted in ownership, teamwork, respect and belonging. Here, you’ll reach your full potential because…

You are invited to be an owner from day 1 as we work together to bring our Dream to life. That’s why we call ourselves CGI Partners rather than employees. We benefit from our collective success and actively shape our company’s strategy and direction.

Your work creates value. You’ll develop innovative solutions and build relationships with teammates and clients while accessing global capabilities to scale your ideas, embrace new opportunities, and benefit from expansive industry and technology expertise.

You’ll shape your career by joining a company built to grow and last. You’ll be supported by leaders who care about your health and well-being and provide you with opportunities to deepen your skills and broaden your horizons.

At CGI, we value the strength that diversity brings and are committed to fostering a workplace where everyone belongs. We collaborate with our clients to build more inclusive communities and empower all CGI partners to thrive. As an equal-opportunity employer, being able to perform your best during the recruitment process is important to us. If you require an accommodation, please inform your recruiter.

That same commitment to fairness extends to how we use technology. To support our recruitment team, AI tools may be used to help assess applications though they never replace human judgement. All hiring decisions remain entirely in the hands of our recruitment professionals.
