Position Description

CGI is seeking an experienced, delivery-focused Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Project Manager to lead medium to large-scale technology and business initiatives within a Tier 1 Canadian banking environment.

In this role, you will oversee the end-to-end planning, execution, and deployment of critical AML and transaction monitoring systems. You will bridge regulatory requirements and technical implementation, collaborating with cross-functional technology teams, including Engineering, Architecture, and Product, as well as Compliance Business Partners.

You will be responsible for delivering secure, compliant, and optimized technology solutions that support regulatory obligations and operational efficiency.

Your future duties and responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) for AML and compliance technology initiatives, including software upgrades, policy-to-system mapping, and transaction monitoring optimization.
  • Manage project planning, execution, delivery milestones, dependencies, risks, and stakeholder communications across medium to large-scale initiatives.
  • Coordinate release planning, User Acceptance Testing (UAT), deployment readiness, post-deployment reviews, and ongoing maintenance of technical documentation.
  • Oversee Agile delivery activities, including backlog management, sprint planning, burndown tracking, and delivery performance reporting.
  • Lead regulatory change initiatives aligned with the Proceeds of Crime (Money Laundering) and Terrorist Financing Act (PCMLTFA) and evolving FINTRAC guidelines.
  • Manage initiatives to automate compliance workflows, optimize client onboarding and remediation queues, and improve transaction monitoring alert management, including Large Cash Transaction Reports (LCTR) and Suspicious Transaction Reports (STR) workflows.
  • Lead remediation projects addressing compliance lookbacks, internal and regulatory audit findings, and regulatory commitments within established deadlines.
  • Facilitate collaboration among Compliance, Legal, Business Data Stewardship, Engineering, Architecture, Product, and software development teams to align business requirements with technical delivery.
  • Coordinate external technology vendors and third-party contractors implementing specialized compliance solutions.

Required Qualifications To Be Successful In This Role

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum 8 years of progressive experience leading medium to large-scale technology initiatives within a financial institution or fintech environment.
  • Demonstrated project management experience in Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Sanctions, Know Your Customer (KYC), or broader financial crime technology systems.
  • Advanced knowledge of Agile, Scrum, and Waterfall project delivery methodologies.
  • Advanced proficiency with Jira, Jira Align, Confluence, and Microsoft Project.
  • Familiarity with AML transaction monitoring platforms, case management software, and data pipeline integrations.
  • Experience coordinating technical and business stakeholders across complex technology initiatives.
  • Knowledge of software delivery processes, release management, testing coordination, and regulatory compliance project execution.

Assets

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP) certification.
  • Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) or Certified Financial Crime Specialist (CFCS) certification.
