Position: Operator/Driver (Active Vacancy)
Primary Location: Thunder Bay, Ontario, Canada (ON-SITE)
Shift: 40 hours per week
Reports To: Operations Supervisor
Compensation: $36.24/hour CAD + Benefits

About This Position and About You
This job is diverse, involving the mechanical ability to safely operate tanker trucks as well as perform Operator duties.
Qualifications
A Successful Candidate Has:
- Minimum of two (2) years of recent tractor/tanker experience
- Minimum of one (1) year of recent tanker experience
- Must have a valid Commercial Driver's License, CDL Class A, with appropriate hazmat and tanker endorsements (US-specific) or an AZ license with TDG Training (Canada-specific)
- A clean driving record for the past three (3) years
- Be physically qualified to drive a motor vehicle and provide a valid medical card
- Be able to provide proof of experience or training to operate the type of motor vehicle used by Chemtrade safely
Competencies
- Ability to demonstrate experience using Microsoft programs, maintenance management systems, and email.
- Aptitude for mechanics.
- Willingness to comply with safety and quality regulations, including wearing protective gear when necessary.
- Ability to lift 50lbs or more.
Responsibilities
- Perform chemical manufacturing operations safely and effectively.
- Record information, such as ingredients, weights, and temperature, and input it into the database.
- Monitor and control pressure and temperature of chemical process equipment.
- Operate plant equipment as per Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Handle, transport, and process chemicals safely.
- Document plant processes and record production data.
- Operate tank trucks and railcar vessels; open, load, and unload product; operate pumps, piping, and valves.
- Troubleshooting issues with production equipment and processes.
- Plant inventory record keeping.
- Daily plant upkeep and daily maintenance. Ability to perform daily housekeeping duties.
- Load, transfer, and unload raw product from a tanker truck
- Transport and unload chemicals into customers’ tanks safely and with the required paperwork
- Safely handle hoses during loading and unloading
- Perform pre- and post-trip inspections
- Comply with all Company, Customer, Federal, State, and Local laws, rules, and regulations
- Become familiar with plant operating procedures
- Other duties as assigned
Work Conditions
- Chemical manufacturing plant producing Liquid Alum
- Physical capability of performing tasks in 100-degree Fahrenheit ambient temperatures while wearing Personal Protective Equipment.
- This job requires climbing stairs and ladders and also lifting (within OSHA guidelines).
- This job involves working outdoors where radiant heat or cold is normal, and rotating shifts.
- Following all plant safety guidelines such as: Confined Space, Working at Heights, Management of Change, Hot Work, and Operating Procedures
- Must be able to work scheduled 8-hour days with intermittent 14–16–hour days for emergency operations/repairs.
