Original job description

Life Management Trainer (LMT)

Chimo: Where What You Do Matters for a Lifetime.

We are currently seeking one (1) Full-Time Life Management Trainer (LMT) to join our Life Management Program.

This is a full-time position working 37.5 hours per week, with no on-call responsibilities.

About the Program

The Life Management Training (LMT) Program is a dynamic, community-based program dedicated to empowering youth to develop essential life skills, build independence, and successfully navigate the transition into adulthood.

We are looking for a compassionate, motivated, and resourceful Life Management Trainer who is passionate about supporting youth, including those who may be considered high-risk. Through individualized, one-on-one support, you will help young people identify their goals, overcome barriers, access community resources, and develop the skills and confidence needed to lead independent lives.

Key Responsibilities

Build positive, supportive, and trusting relationships with youth through consistent one-on-one engagement.
Work collaboratively with youth to identify personal goals and develop individualized action plans.
Provide practical guidance, coaching, and hands-on support to develop essential life skills and promote independence.
Connect youth with appropriate community resources, programs, and services.
Support youth in navigating complex systems, including housing, employment, education, and healthcare.
Maintain accurate documentation, case notes, and progress reports to monitor and support youth development.

Areas of Support

As a Life Management Trainer, you will provide guidance and practical support in areas such as:

Mental Health and Wellness: Connecting youth with mental health, addiction, and wellness supports and resources.
Housing and Independent Living: Assisting with housing applications, lease agreements, utility setup, and apartment furnishing and setup.
Financial Literacy: Teaching budgeting, banking, saving, financial planning, and tax preparation.
Education and Employment: Supporting job searches, resume development, interview preparation, school applications, and access to educational funding.
Community Connections: Connecting youth with food banks, healthcare services, recreation programs, and crisis supports.
Daily Living Skills: Developing skills in cooking, nutrition, meal planning, and budget-conscious shopping.
Employment Readiness: Building workplace readiness skills and supporting successful job maintenance.
Personal Development: Encouraging self-care, effective communication, and healthy interpersonal relationships.
Parenting Supports: Assisting pregnant and parenting youth in accessing appropriate resources and developing parenting skills.
Cultural Connections: Encouraging participation in cultural resources, activities, and community connections.

Education, Credentials and Requirements

Diploma or degree in Child and Youth Care, Social Work, or a related humanities field. A degree is considered an asset.
Experience working directly with youth in a frontline human services role is considered a significant asset.
Current training or certification in First Aid, Suicide Intervention, and Crisis Intervention.
A valid Class 5 Driver's Licence and a minimum of three (3) years of driving experience.
A clean three (3)-year driving abstract.
A minimum of three (3) years of continuous automobile insurance history with no at-fault claims.
Personal vehicle insurance with a minimum of $2 million in liability coverage, including business use.
A clear Criminal Record Check and Child Intervention Record Check, both issued within the last six (6) months.

What We Offer

We believe in supporting the people who make a difference every day. As a member of our team, you'll enjoy:

Membership on a supportive team of skilled and passionate professionals dedicated to helping children, youth, and families reach their greatest potential.
Paid vacation starting at fifteen(15) days per year.
Paid sick and wellness leave equivalent to ten (10) days per year.
Comprehensive health benefits following the successful completion of the 3-month probationary period.
Dental coverage after one (1) year of employment.
A Health Spending Account (HSA) to help cover eligible health-related expenses after the probationary period.
Access to our Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP), offering confidential counselling and wellness resources for employees and their immediate families.
Opportunities for ongoing professional development, training, and career growth.
Invitations to agency events, training and development, staff appreciation activities, celebrations.
A collaborative, inclusive, and values-driven workplace where your leadership and contributions make a meaningful impact every day.

Join Chimo and be part of something meaningful. Help young people build the skills, confidence, and independence they need to create a brighter future.
