Reports to: Executive Director

Employment: Full-time, Permanent

Location: Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia

Salary Range: $70,000 – $85,000 annually, commensurate with experience

Organization: Chisholm Services for Children

About Chisholm Services for Children

Chisholm Services for Children is a Nova Scotia nonprofit dedicated to helping children and families build brighter, healthier, safer and more hopeful futures.

We are entering an exciting period of growth and are looking for an experienced fundraising professional who can help us strengthen the relationships, resources and community engagement needed to expand our impact.

The Opportunity

This is a new role at Chisholm and an opportunity to help build and implement the next phase of fund development for the organization.

The Manager, Fund Development & Engagement, will lead the development and execution of a comprehensive fundraising strategy that grows and diversifies revenue with a first focus on our current capital campaign: Brighter Futures, while building meaningful, long-term relationships with donors, partners and the broader community.

This is a highly hands-on role for a fundraising professional who enjoys both building strategy and leading execution. The successful candidate will personally cultivate donors, write proposals and grant applications, develop stewardship plans, coordinate campaigns, manage social media, support events, and build systems and processes.

This position currently operates as an individual contributor role with significant organizational influence. The successful candidate will collaborate across the organization and may work with contractors, volunteers and external partners.

Fundraising and donor engagement will represent the majority of this role. Communications, community engagement, events and partnership development are important supporting functions that help advance fundraising success.

Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Fund Development & Donor Engagement
  • Fundraising Operations & Data
  • Communications & Storytelling
  • Events & Community Engagement
  • Program & Partnership Development

What You Bring

We are looking for an experienced fundraising professional who is equally comfortable building relationships, creating strategy and rolling up their sleeves to deliver. This is a builder role for someone who enjoys creating momentum through action.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Approximately 5–10 years of progressive experience in fundraising, philanthropy, development or a related nonprofit leadership role.
  • Demonstrated success generating philanthropic revenue and cultivating donor relationships.
  • Experience across multiple areas of fundraising, such as individual giving, major gifts, corporate partnerships, foundations, grants, annual giving or campaigns.
  • Strong knowledge of donor cultivation, solicitation, stewardship and moves management.
  • Experience using a fundraising database or CRM to manage relationships, campaigns and fundraising performance.
  • Demonstrated experience developing strong written communications, including proposals, cases for support, appeals and donor-facing materials.
  • Experience planning or leading fundraising, stewardship or community events.
  • Experience building community or corporate partnerships.
  • Experience contributing to program, campaign or initiative development.
  • Strong project management skills and the ability to successfully manage multiple priorities.
  • Post-secondary education in fundraising, communications, marketing, business, nonprofit leadership or a related area is an asset; equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
  • CFRE designation or progress toward CFRE is an asset, not a requirement.

Conditions:

  • This is a remote first position with expectations for weekly on-site meetings.
  • Health and dental benefits.
  • RRSP plan.
  • Clear criminal records / vulnerable sector check.
  • Clear child abuse registry check.
  • Must have personal vehicle for travel.
  • Clear drivers abstract.

Target Start Date: November 23, 2026, or shortly thereafter. We recognize the strongest candidates may require additional notice to support a thoughtful transition and are prepared to accommodate reasonable timing for the right individual.

Build the next chapter of philanthropy at Chisholm.

This isn't a role where you'll inherit a mature fundraising machine and manage one piece of it. You'll have the opportunity to help build the strategy, relationships, systems and ideas that will fuel Chisholm's next chapter of impact for children and families across Nova Scotia.

If you are interested in this opportunity, please forward your cover letter and resume to wjohnston@chisholm4children.ca by 9:00 AM November 9th, 2026.
