What You’ll Be Doing

The Business Training Consultant will consult on, analyze, develop, implement, and evaluate training needs, leveraging existing technology and techniques to build out the front line branch capability of engaging digitally with clients. Training solutions will be aligned with CIBC business partners’ strategies and are aimed to increase front line effectiveness with client interactions.

The primary responsibility of the Business Training Consultant is to research, recommend, design, and develop integrated, comprehensive training solutions supporting client facing technology initiatives. Based on analysis and assessment of business partner and learner needs this role will act as a subject matter expert post launch of any client facing technology releases to help identify and close any training gaps, and assist branch users with any technical challenges when engaging digitally with clients. In addition, this role will work with Managing Directors, Regional Directors, Branch Administrators and Investment Advisors and act as a conduit between head office and the branch network, working closely with Wood Gundy Technology, Product, Practice Management, Marketing and the Business Consultants in Training & Development supporting the execution learning design solutions.

The expected annualized base salary range for this role is $69,800 to $87,200.

The base salary is determined by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s skills, experience, and job-related knowledge, as well as geographic location and specific business needs. Our compensation philosophy supports ongoing growth and development, enabling progression within the salary range as team members advance in their roles.

In addition to base pay, compensation for this role includes participation in an annual discretionary incentive or bonus program.

How You’ll Succeed

Learning Needs Analysis- Independently or collaboratively analyze and recommend solutions to increase front line effectiveness with client interactions; closing any gaps or challenges related to client facing technology releases. Conduct needs assessments; gather and interpret the data to identify trends, gaps; research, gather, and interpret relevant content in conjunction with business partners to make recommendations to close those gaps in support of business strategies and new initiatives. Define measurable and achievable performance and training objectives. Identify appropriate training tools and methodologies such as e-learning, multimedia, workshop, knowledge objects, paper-based solutions, blended solutions, etc. to achieve performance and training objectives. Make recommendations for leveraging and repurposing existing L&D content, and designing new content in ways that minimize future maintenance and duplication of effort.
Instructional Design- Design and develop integrated, comprehensive training solutions to meet to meet learner needs. Create detailed storyboards, including content highlights, key concepts, graphic/ media ideas. Facilitate training sessions as required; at a National, Regional or branch level.
Learning & Development- Actively participate in and promote teamwork, and as appropriate, assist in motivating, supporting, and guiding more junior team members. Develop and refine specialized skills and knowledge related to trends and changes in adult learning, instructional design, the financial services industry, and CIBC – and share this knowledge with the team
Contribute meaningfully to ensuring the effectiveness and high quality of solutions developed in Learning Solutions- Responsible for successfully completing high-quality training solutions within agreed-upon parameters, as well as ensuring the quality of any deliverables created by others on behalf of a given project. Participate in post implementation review of all projects (PIR) to review what worked well and for lessons learned for future enhancements.
Relationship Building- Build relationships and share relevant information appropriately with business partners or project stakeholders within Talent Development and with CIBC business SMEs including Management, Marketing, Compliance, and Legal, as well as other stakeholders to ensure a comprehensive understanding of the perceived needs or gaps. Provide regular project updates and ensure the timely completion of necessary production and translation activities and handoffs during the creation of a solution.

Who You Are

You have a degree in post-secondary education in Adult Education; Instructional Design; Applied Arts or English; Electronic Communications; Multi-Disciplinary Curriculum, Technical/ Business Writing diploma or equivalent experience.
You can demonstrate experience in adult learning principles and extensive knowledge and application of instructional/ information design principles. You have experience developing successful e-learning, instructor-led and self-guided training materials; using e-learning authoring tools (i.e. Lectora, Captivate, Articulate Storyline), image editing software (i.e. Photoshop, Illustrator), multimedia tools (i.e. Premiere Pro, Captivate) and Microsoft suite of products (i.e. Word, PowerPoint, Teams ) to develop training documentation and solutions, troubleshoot tool use and recommend best approach.
It’s an asset if you have direct experience working in a client-facing role at CIBC.
