We’re building a relationship-oriented bank for the modern world. We need talented, passionate professionals who are dedicated to doing what’s right for our clients.

What you’ll be doing

CIBC’s Communications team leads internal corporate communications that help employees understand our strategy, connect to our purpose, and see the impact of Team CIBC’s work across our bank. As a Consultant, Communications, you'll play a key role in developing and delivering integrated communications that strengthen understanding of CIBC’s purpose-driven, growth-minded strategic direction and support senior leaders and business teams across Global Technology, Data and AI (GTDAI) and Finance and Enterprise Strategy.

This is an exciting opportunity for a creative, digitally savvy communications professional with strong corporate communications experience and a passion for storytelling. You know how to turn complex business priorities into clear, engaging content – and you’re equally comfortable writing a leader message, shaping a LinkedIn post, planning an employee event, or capturing a spontaneous executive interview and turning it into a polished digital story.

Working closely with the Senior Director, Communications & Public Affairs and partners across the business, you’ll help create communications that inform, engage, and inspire employees, while also supporting executive visibility and reputation-building across external channels.

At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You'll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you'll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.

How you’ll succeed

  • Strategic communications planning – Support the development and execution of integrated communications strategies and plans aligned to business priorities, executive messaging, and organizational objectives. Provide day-to-day support across employee messages, executive briefings, announcements, and town halls, while developing tactical plans and advising on messaging, channels, audiences, timing, and distribution, and emerging storytelling formats.
  • Content creation and storytelling – Create compelling, audience-focused content across written, visual, and multimedia formats, including articles, announcements, executive messages, scripts, talking points, short-form videos, photography direction, and campaign content. Translate complex business, technology, data, and AI topics into clear, engaging, accessible communications.
  • Executive storytelling and thought leadership – Help bring authentic executive perspectives to life by identifying content opportunities, capturing real-time moments, and shaping stories that reflect leadership voice and business priorities. Support executive thought leadership and visibility through content for LinkedIn and other reputation-building channels.
  • Digital and channel engagement – Develop and publish content across internal and external digital channels, including CIBC Today, Microsoft Viva Engage, LinkedIn, and other platforms as appropriate. Apply channel-specific best practices to maximize reach, engagement, and relevance, while identifying opportunities to align messaging across channels for maximum impact.
  • Multimedia production – Conceptualize and help produce digital-first storytelling content, including video, imagery, graphics, and other visual assets that complement and elevate written communications. Partner with internal teams and external vendors, as needed, to storyboard, capture, edit, and publish content with strong editorial judgment and brand consistency.
  • Employee communications and events – Support employee engagement initiatives and communications activities such as town halls, leader sessions, MS Teams Live events, and other internal events. Help create communications that strengthen employee understanding, alignment, and connection to CIBC’s strategic direction.
  • Collaboration and relationship building – Build strong working relationships across Communications and Public Affairs, GTDAI, Finance and Enterprise Strategy, and senior leadership teams. Collaborate with stakeholders to identify stories, align messaging, amplify leadership narratives, and deliver integrated communications that drive measurable impact.
  • Agility and execution excellence – Thrive in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and tight timelines. Bring strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to execute with professionalism, accuracy, and sensitivity to context, while staying current on CIBC and business priorities.

Who you are

  • You have communications experience. You bring 5+ years of experience in a corporate communications role, ideally within financial services, technology, or another large, complex organization. Experience in executive communications is an asset.
  • You are an exceptional writer and storyteller. You have strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills, and you know how to turn complex ideas into clear, engaging, audience-appropriate communications.
  • You’re a hands-on content creator. You have experience creating high-quality digital content across multiple formats, including written communications, video, visual assets, and multimedia storytelling. You’re comfortable contributing directly to content creation – not just managing the process.
  • You understand executive presence and digital channels. You have experience supporting senior leaders with thought leadership and executive visibility. You understand how to shape content for LinkedIn and employee engagement platforms such as Microsoft Viva Engage, and you know what drives attention, interaction, and engagement on each.
  • You bring strong multimedia instincts. You have experience with video and visual storytelling, including scripting, storyboarding, content capture, editing coordination, or creative direction. The ability to film or capture executive content in the moment is a strong asset.
  • You have executive communications and event management experience. Previous experience in these areas is an asset, particularly in supporting senior leaders with high-visibility communications and employee engagement activities.
  • You are highly collaborative and proactive. You build trust quickly, work well across teams, and bring forward new ideas and creative approaches. You’re confident working with senior leaders and stakeholders in dynamic, fast-moving environments.
  • You manage complexity with precision. You have strong project management skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple deliverables in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment.
  • You live your values. You bring high standards, genuine care to your relationships, and want to grow with an employer that shares your values and brings out your best.
