Original job description

We’re building a relationship-oriented bank for the modern world. We need talented, passionate professionals who are dedicated to doing what’s right for our clients.

At CIBC, we embrace your strengths and your ambitions, so you are empowered at work. Our team members have what they need to make a meaningful impact and are truly valued for who they are and what they contribute.

To learn more about CIBC, please visit CIBC.com

What you'll be doing

You’ll be joining CIBC’s Alternate Solutions Group. You’ll be at the heart of CIBC’s digital transformation, delivering complex, enterprise-scale solutions across multiple front-end and back-end systems. As a Full Stack Developer, you’ll design, build, and maintain secure, resilient services and web applications using Node.js, .NET/.NET Core, Blazor, and Angular. You’ll lead the technical design, development, and integration of these applications and services across channels.

At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.

How you'll succeed

Design and development – Lead and perform complex full‑stack development activities. Design RESTful APIs and microservices using Node.js and .NET/.NET Core. Build rich web UIs with Angular and Blazor. Define the application’s technical architecture, including data models, integration patterns, testing strategies, and performance considerations.
End‑to‑end ownership – Take features from idea to production: requirements refinement, solution design, implementation, automated testing, deployment, and monitoring. Ensure solutions are secure, scalable, observable, and easy to support.
Strategic planning – Contribute to and help evolve multi‑year technology roadmaps that align with the bank’s vision, strategy, and business goals. Lead complex projects involving backend services, modern front‑end frameworks, and integration with existing platforms and APIs.
AI‑driven development – Use tools like GitHub Copilot and other generative AI assistants effectively: write clear prompts, review and adapt AI‑generated code, and help the team adopt “vibe coding” workflows that improve quality and speed while maintaining strong engineering standards.

Who you are

You can demonstrate strong hands‑on experience with: Back‑end: Node.js, .NET, .NET Core, RESTful API design, integration with external services. Front‑end: Angular, Blazor, modern JavaScript/TypeScript, responsive UI development. Core engineering practices: Object‑oriented and functional design principles, secure coding, unit and integration testing, API and UI automation, CI/CD pipelines, version control with Git. It’s an asset if you have experience with: DevOps & Platform: Azure (or other cloud), CI/CD (GitHub Actions/Azure DevOps/Jenkins), infrastructure as code, monitoring/alerting.Containers & Orchestration: Docker, Kubernetes (OCP or similar), containerized microservices, service mesh concepts. Data & Messaging: SQL/NoSQL databases, caching, message queues (e.g., Service Bus, Kafka, Solace), event‑driven architectures.AI‑driven development: Prompt engineering, effective use of GitHub Copilot and similar tools, integrating AI into day‑to‑day coding (“vibe coding”), documentation, and testing workflows.
You embrace and advocate change. You continuously evolve your thinking, tools, and practices to deliver better outcomes.
Your influence makes a difference. You build strong relationships and use your technical expertise to guide decisions and drive outcomes.
You’re digitally savvy. You seek out modern engineering practices and technologies, and you adapt quickly to new frameworks and tools.
You’re motivated by collective success. You believe great outcomes come from diverse, collaborative teams that enjoy working together.
Values matter to you. You bring your real self to work and you live our values – trust, teamwork, and accountability.

What CIBC Offers

At CIBC, your goals are a priority. We start with your strengths and ambitions as an employee and strive to create opportunities to tap into your potential. We aspire to give you a career, rather than just a paycheck.

We work to recognize you in meaningful, personalized ways including a competitive salary, incentive pay, banking benefits, a benefits program*, defined benefit pension plan*, an employee share purchase plan, a vacation offering, wellbeing support, and MomentMakers, our social, points-based recognition program.
Our spaces and technological toolkit will make it simple to bring together great minds to create innovative solutions that make a difference for our clients.
We cultivate a culture where you can express your ambition through initiatives like Purpose Day; a paid day off dedicated for you to use to invest in your growth and development.

*Subject to plan and program terms and conditions

What you need to know

CIBC is committed to creating an inclusive environment where all team members and clients feel like they belong. We seek applicants with a wide range of abilities and we provide an accessible candidate experience. If you need accommodation, please contact Mailbox.careers-carrieres@cibc.com
CIBC is committed to clarity in our hiring process. All roles posted are opportunities we’re actively recruiting for, unless stated otherwise.
You need to be legally eligible to work at the location(s) specified above and, where applicable, must have a valid work or study permit.
We may ask you to complete an attribute-based assessment and other skills test (such as simulation, coding, French proficiency).
