What you'll be doing

Personal and Business Banking helps clients across Canada achieve their goals through advice, products, and services that make banking easier and more rewarding. Within this team, Simplii Financial offers a no-fee banking experience through digital and telephone channels, supported by CIBC’s scale, technology, and security. As a Business Analyst – Operations and Oversight, you'll bring deep domain expertise to complex incidents, escalations, and change initiatives within the Simplii Operations and Oversight Centre of Excellence. You'll translate business problems into clear requirements, process insights, and acceptance criteria that help delivery squads implement effective solutions. You'll connect business needs to system behaviour, data flows, and operational impacts, helping teams identify root causes and reduce recurrence. You'll also help turn individual expertise into shared knowledge so the team can resolve issues faster, strengthen operational effectiveness, and improve the client experience.

At Simplii we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You'll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you'll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.

How you'll succeed

Domain expertise - Apply your knowledge of banking products, channels, operational processes, and supporting systems to support incident resolution, escalations, and change delivery.

Business and systems analysis - Gather, analyze, and document business requirements, functional requirements, process flows, business rules, current-state and future-state assessments, and acceptance criteria to support solution design and implementation.

Root cause investigation - Conduct structured analysis using operational knowledge, data, and system behaviour to identify root causes, define problems clearly, and recommend actionable next steps.

Squad partnership - Partner with delivery squads, product owners, technology teams, and business stakeholders to clarify requirements, assess impacts, support decision-making, and help move work from investigation through implementation.

Validation and knowledge sharing - Confirm that fixes address the underlying issue, meet business intent, and work across impacted processes and systems, while capturing learnings, decisions, and solutions in shared documentation.

Continuous improvement - Identify recurring issues, process gaps, control weaknesses, and improvement opportunities that strengthen operational effectiveness, reduce risk, and enhance the client experience.

It’s an asset if you have experience with Jira, Confluence, incident management, agile delivery, SQL, reporting tools, or data analysis tools.

You have a degree/diploma in business, finance, information technology, or a related field. Equivalent work experience in banking or financial services is also valued.
