What you’ll be doing

As Senior Consultant, Risk Business Intelligence Office, within the Risk Business Intelligence Office (RBIO), you will apply your strong reporting and data analysis skillsets, combined with an understanding of Risk Management to further RBIO’s purpose of “Acting as a trusted advisor” by enhancing risk domain business intelligence in CIBC. Your accountabilities include taking ownership of the assigned monthly and quarterly wholesale credit risk reporting to various CIBC partner teams as well as to the regulators. You will also be accountable for developing detailed requirements ensuring high data quality in the development and maintenance of robust reporting and analytic solutions in collaboration with various teams across Product, Finance, Risk, and Technology.

How you’ll succeed

Leadership & Advice – By bringing a can-do and energetic self to work, you will build strong trustful relationships with your team members inside RBIO and with partner teams. You show accountability of running a project or process to completion by taking on the role of an owner, solving for roadblocks and proactively identifying possible issues for the overall success of the group. You take opportunities to provide advice to your team, including ongoing feedback, support, and mentorship.
Data Quality – You understand the importance of data quality in reporting and are mindful of the impacts of low data quality to reporting. You are systematic in adhering to the processes related to monitoring data quality, raising data quality issues, and taking ownership to solve them in both production reporting and project delivery setting.
Business & Data Analysis – You understand that both technical and business acumen are required. You are well versed in SQL and be a reliable liaison between business and technology groups. You understand the processes related to project delivery such as requirements analysis and user acceptance testing. Working closely with partners such as risk data consumers and risk data providers, you will provide analysis and support to the group with concepts around ingesting, measuring, monitoring, and reporting wholesale risk data to regulators and senior management.
Projects & Testing – Identify obstacles or risks that may impact a project’s timeline or success and provide regular status updates to the business. Keep the lines of communication open with stakeholders, and escalate issues when necessary. Ensure that all test deliverables are received, approved, and aligned to your project’s timeline, budget and goals. Lead the investigation and translation of business requirements into test cases. Design and manage end-to-end testing activities for various projects across the business.

Who you are

You can demonstrate experience. In IFRS9 Expected Credit Loss reporting and accounting in both Wholesale and Retail portfolios). The reporting will cover Public Disclosures such as MD&A/Interim Financial Reporting and Regulatory reporting to OSFI (ECL data call). You have project delivery experience related to data warehousing and reporting.
You have a degree. In business, finance, or risk.
You give meaning to data. You enjoy investigating complex problems, and making sense of information. You have experience in Data Analysis tools, including SQL, BI tools such as Cognos, Tableau, and Power BI. You have ability to communicate detailed information in a meaningful way.
