What you’ll be doing

As a Team Leader, Compensation Administration , you will provide specialized operational knowledge and guidance to Volumes & Commission department staff consisting of ten administrative staff performing a range of clerical and accounting adjustments each month. You will ensure the ongoing operation of the department is performing effectively and efficiently, meeting all month-end deadlines. General responsibilities include reviewing work of administrative staff, coordinating work-flow processes, providing knowledge and guidance for commission related issues and projects (for Clients, Finance and Technology). Investigation is typically required to complete the work and an in-depth knowledge of CIBC World Markets policy is preferred.

At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote. Details on your work arrangement (proportion of on-site and remote work) will be discussed at the time of your interview.

The expected annualized base salary range for this role is $66,090 to $85,550.

The base salary is determined by a variety of factors, including the candidate’s skills, experience, and job-related knowledge, as well as geographic location and specific business needs. Our compensation philosophy supports ongoing growth and development, enabling progression within the salary range as team members advance in their roles.

In addition to base pay, compensation for this role includes participation in an annual discretionary incentive or bonus program.

We are committed to providing fair, equitable, and competitive compensation opportunities for all employees and we encourage open conversations about compensation throughout the recruitment process.

How you’ll succeed

Provide operational leadership and coaching – Act as the team’s senior point of contact by providing day-to-day guidance, coaching, and specialized knowledge on commission-related processes, accounting adjustments, and issue resolution. Support colleagues in resolving complex matters while helping ensure work is completed accurately and on time.
Strengthen processes, controls, and reporting – Support the effective execution of procedures and controls related to commission processing, reconciliations, financial journals, reporting, and attestations. Help identify gaps, investigate variances, and promote compliance with audit, SOX, and business continuity requirements.
Lead complex issue resolution and stakeholder support – Investigate/solve commission-related inquiries, General Ledger impacts, and technical issues, and provide guidance on escalations, projects, and business initiatives involving partners across Finance, Technology, and the business.
Drive continuous improvement – Identify opportunities to improve workflows, enhance efficiency, and support implementation of process or system changes. Contribute to projects, testing, and issue analysis to help improve operational effectiveness.

Who you are

You are driven by operational excellence. You are highly organized, adaptable, and resourceful in managing competing priorities, changing demands, and tight timelines while maintaining a high standard of accuracy and service.
You lead through expertise and influence. You provide coaching, guidance, and support to others through strong knowledge, sound judgment, and collaboration.
You are technically capable. You have strong Access and Excel skills, experience working with data, reporting, and the ability to communicate detailed information clearly and effectively.
You bring strong operational experience in commission processing, payroll specialization, accounting operations, and complex reconciliations, supported by knowledge of Broadridge (ADP/PostEdge), General Ledger accounts (SAP), accounting practices, financial controls, and the brokerage and regulatory environment, with a strong focus on compliance, governance, and risk management.
Values matter to you. You bring your real self to work, and you live our values - trust, teamwork, and accountability.

What CIBC Offers

At CIBC, your goals are a priority. We start with your strengths and ambitions as an employee and strive to create opportunities to tap into your potential. We aspire to give you a career, rather than just a paycheck.

We work to recognize you in meaningful, personalized ways including a competitive salary, incentive pay, banking benefits, a benefits program*, defined benefit pension plan*, an employee share purchase plan, a vacation offering, wellbeing support, and MomentMakers, our social, points-based recognition program.
Our spaces and technological toolkit will make it simple to bring together great minds to create innovative solutions that make a difference for our clients.
We cultivate a culture where you can express your ambition through initiatives like Purpose Day; a paid day off dedicated for you to use to invest in your growth and development.

*Subject to plan and program terms and conditions
