Job Description

CIMA+ is looking for a creative and enthusiastic Graphic Designer to join B&A Studios, part of CIMA+, within our Planning, Design and Engagement team in Calgary.

CIMA+ | B&A's Earth and Environment team have adopted sustainability as a core value and prioritize the environmental, social, and economic benefits of every project. Our engineers and certified technicians have the detailed knowledge of local conditions to provide the full range of environmental services for clients in both the public and private sectors. We have the skills to execute complex environmental projects, but we also integrate green solutions into every infrastructure, building, transportation, and energy project we undertake. Join us and immerse yourself in a dynamic, innovative, and collaborative environment where you’ll make a real impact. Together, we’ll push boundaries and go above what’s expected of us to meet the challenges of tomorrow and engineer a better world!

B&A Studios is a multidisciplinary planning, urban design, landscape architecture, and communications and engagement practice with a strong presence in Western Canada. As part of CIMA+, one of Canada's leading consulting engineering firms, our team brings together creative thinking, technical expertise, and collaborative approaches to help shape vibrant, sustainable communities.

This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career designer with 1 to 2 years of professional experience, or a recent graduate with a strong portfolio, who is looking to develop their skills, gain valuable project experience, and grow within a supportive, multidisciplinary environment.

Working alongside experienced graphic designers, planners, urban designers, landscape architects, communications and engagement professionals, and engineers, you will help transform ideas and complex information into clear, compelling visual communications.

You will contribute to a diverse range of client projects, public engagement initiatives, reports, proposals, presentations, and marketing materials. The position offers significant variety, hands-on experience, and opportunities to learn from experienced professionals while contributing your own creativity and fresh perspectives.

What You'll Do

  • Support the development of graphics, layouts, and visual communications for a variety of planning, design, and engagement projects.
  • Assist in designing and producing reports, planning documents, presentations, proposals, brochures, display boards, signage, and other print and digital materials.
  • Collaborate with our Communications & Engagement team to create materials for public engagement programs, including open houses, workshops, online engagement, and community communications.
  • Help translate technical or complex information into clear, accessible, and visually engaging materials.
  • Contribute to the development of project branding, visual identities, templates, infographics, diagrams, and other creative assets.
  • Support business development and marketing initiatives, including proposals, qualifications packages, presentations, social media graphics, and promotional materials.
  • Work closely with multidisciplinary project teams to develop creative solutions that respond to project objectives, client needs, and audience considerations.
  • Assist with projects from initial concept through design development, production, and final delivery, with guidance and support from experienced team members.
  • Manage assigned tasks and deadlines while maintaining strong attention to detail, quality, and consistency.
  • Participate in design reviews, incorporate feedback, and contribute creative ideas to strengthen our team's visual communications.

  • Strong skills in typography, layout, composition, colour, visual hierarchy, and information design.
  • Familiarity with designing materials for both print and digital applications.
  • An interest in translating technical or complex information into clear, engaging graphics and documents.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate, polished, and high-quality work.
  • Good organizational and time-management skills, with an ability to manage assignments and meet deadlines.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with an interest in collaborating as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • A positive attitude, creative curiosity, and a willingness to receive feedback, develop new skills, and contribute ideas.
  • A portfolio demonstrating creativity, design fundamentals, and technical abilities. Academic, personal, and professional projects are all welcome.
  • Integrity, team spirit, and a commitment to excellence
