Our growing Infrastructure team in BC is looking for a Structural Engineer to join our Vancouver office. The successful candidate will work on industrial and municipal infrastructure projects involving underground structures, electrical substations, retaining walls and utility infrastructure systems.

Our projects include underground concrete structures (vaults, manholes, chambers), duct banks, substations, utility corridors, equipment foundations, and related industrial facilities. We work within multidisciplinary teams providing civil, structural, electrical, and geotechnical coordination to deliver integrated infrastructure solutions.

Primary Responsibilities

Perform structural analysis and design of reinforced concrete and steel structures, including underground structures, equipment foundations, retaining structures, substations, and industrial facilities.
Perform seismic analysis and design of structures and non-structural components, including seismic force-resisting systems, equipment anchorage, foundations, and structural retrofits.
Evaluate existing structures for seismic performance and develop strengthening and retrofit solutions where required.
Perform structural assessments, condition assessments, and rehabilitation design for existing infrastructure.
Prepare and review structural calculations, drawings, technical specifications, design reports, and construction documents.
Determine construction costs and quantities, and carry out studies and technical reports
Conduct field work including investigations/inspections for the design, retrofit, remediation and construction of structures
Liaise with clients, contractors, utility authorities, and multidisciplinary teams
Review progress and compliance of construction work in accordance with tender documents
Assist in proposal preparation, scope definition, and fee estimation.
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and designers, as appropriate.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in civil or structural engineering
Master’s degree in Structural Engineering (considered an asset)
Professional Licensed member of the EGBC (or eligible)
+8 years of relevant experience in structural engineering
Experience in the seismic analysis and design of reinforced concrete and/or steel structures.
Experience with seismic assessment and retrofit of existing structures considered an asset.
Experience with industrial, utility, municipal, substation, or other infrastructure projects considered an asset.
Strong knowledge and practical experience applying relevant Canadian and international structural design codes, standards, and industry guidelines, including NBCC, CSA standards, and internationally recognized standards such as ACI, AISC, ASCE, and etc.
Proficiency in SAP2000, SAFE, and AutoCAD
Strong report writing and proposal development skills
Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle

Responsibilities

Design and assess structural systems for industrial, municipal, utility, and substation infrastructure, including underground structures, foundations, retaining structures, and seismic retrofits. Prepare technical and construction documents, conduct field inspections, coordinate with clients and multidisciplinary teams, review construction compliance, and support proposals while guiding junior staff.

Requirements

Requires a bachelor’s degree in civil or structural engineering, professional licensure with EGBC or eligibility, and more than eight years of relevant structural engineering experience.
