Original job description

Meet Circuit Stream

Where big futures start. Circuit Stream is building the defining youth enrichment brand in North America. We create pre-university summer camps that give young people the chance to explore what they might want to do next, from AI, engineering, medicine and business to psychology, sports, outdoor adventure and more. Through partnerships with leading universities and industry experts, we turn those interests into hands-on experiences that build skills, confidence, and open doors to future opportunities. We have big ambitions to serve over 10,000+ students a year. Getting there means moving quickly, trying new things, learning from what works, and giving great people real ownership. If you’re ambitious about where your own career can go, and excited to help young people discover where theirs might lead, you’ll thrive here.

We’re looking for a software engineer, data analyst, AI practitioner, educator, or Masters/PhD student who can make artificial intelligence, machine learning approachable for teenagers and create a classroom where students are excited to code, experiment, and learn.

Role Details

Delivery: In person at York University (Markham) and York University (Keele)

Teaching Dates And Hours

July 5 - 16, 2027 from 8:45am to 4:45 pm at York University Markham
August 3 - 13, 2027 from 8:45am to 4:45 pm at York University Keele

Compensation: CAD $1,500 to 1,650 per week

Training: Required instructor training/onboarding when hired; additional 2-3 hours in June before courses begin.

Other: A background check will be required before working with youth learners.

Why You’ll Love This Role

You’ll help students ages 13–17 explore AI and machine learning through Python, recommendation systems, and an interactive chatbot project. The curriculum, lesson resources, and activities are provided; your role is to make them engaging, accessible, and memorable while helping every student build confidence with coding, data, and machine learning concepts.

What You’ll Be Doing

Deliver Circuit Stream’s provided AI and Machine Learning with Python curriculum with energy, clarity, and strong classroom facilitation.
Guide students through Python, machine learning activities, recommendation-system concepts, and their chatbot project while ensuring learners are meeting the course learning objectives.
Explain technical concepts in beginner-friendly ways, help students troubleshoot code, and connect course topics to real-world AI and machine learning applications.
Create an inclusive, positive classroom environment and use appropriate behavior-management techniques to reinforce expectations, rules, responsible technology use, and safety requirements.
Supervise students during scheduled indoor and outdoor activities outside classroom instruction each day, while monitoring learner progress and communicating concerns or support needs to the Circuit S

What We’re Looking For

You genuinely enjoy working with teenagers and know how to keep a group engaged, participating, and excited to learn.
Professional, internship, academic, or substantial project experience in software engineering, data analysis, AI, machine learning, or a closely related field.
A completed Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or a related discipline OR Masters/PhD in progress.
Proficiency in Python and a strong understanding of machine learning concepts; experience with pandas, scikit-surprise, and the OpenAI API is strongly preferred.
Strong communication and facilitation skills, with the patience to help beginners debug code and understand technical concepts.
Teaching, tutoring, mentoring, TA, training, camp, or youth-program experience is strongly preferred.

Who This Is For

Someone who gets energy from helping teenagers discover what they can build with code and AI.
A practical teacher who brings provided lessons to life through demonstrations, questions, guided coding, experimentation, and hands-on participation.
Someone who can make complex technical ideas feel approachable without oversimplifying them.
A patient problem-solver who is comfortable helping beginners debug, try again, and learn from mistakes.
Someone who is available to teach on weekdays during the summer for all course dates listed.

Who This Is Not For

If you enjoy AI or software development but do not enjoy spending your day actively working with teenagers.
If your preferred teaching style is primarily lecture-based or demonstration-only, without giving students frequent opportunities to code and experiment.
If you become frustrated when beginners need repeated explanation, debugging support, encouragement, or redirection.
If you are uncomfortable enforcing classroom expectations, supervising students outside the classroom, or taking responsibility for safety.

What’s In It For You

The opportunity to introduce teenagers to AI, machine learning, Python, and future technology careers.
A complete curriculum, lesson resources, activities, instructor training, and support from Circuit Stream’s Education team.
A community of instructors and educators to connect with and learn from.
A rewarding summer role where you can strengthen your teaching and mentorship skills while helping students build projects they are proud of.

Ready to Apply?

Apply with your resume and a short note answering two questions:

Why do you enjoy teaching and working with teenagers?
What AI or machine learning concept would you be excited to make interesting and understandable for a teenager?

We’re committed to creating an inclusive and respectful workplace and learning environment where diverse backgrounds and perspectives are valued. What makes us different makes us stronger. If this sounds like a role where you could help students thrive, apply today.

By submitting your application, you consent to Circuit Stream contacting you by phone, text, or email.
