Original job description

Meet Circuit Stream

Where big futures start. Circuit Stream is building the defining youth enrichment brand in North America. We create pre-university summer camps that give young people the chance to explore what they might want to do next, from AI, engineering, medicine and business to psychology, sports, outdoor adventure and more. Through partnerships with leading universities and industry experts, we turn those interests into hands-on experiences that build skills, confidence, and open doors to future opportunities. We have big ambitions to serve over 10,000+ students a year. Getting there means moving quickly, trying new things, learning from what works, and giving great people real ownership. If you’re ambitious about where your own career can go, and excited to help young people discover where theirs might lead, you’ll thrive here.

We’re looking for an entrepreneur, business professional, educator, or Masters/PhD student who can make entrepreneurship feel practical and exciting for teenagers and create a classroom where students are eager to test ideas, solve problems, and build something of their own.

Role Details

Delivery: In person at the University of Calgary

Teaching dates and hours: July 26-30 from 8:45am to 4:45 pm

Compensation: CAD 1,650 per week

Training: Required instructor training/onboarding when hired; additional 2-3 hours in June before courses begin.

Other: A criminal background check will be requested before working with youth learners.

Why You’ll Love This Role

You’ll help students ages 13–17 experience how businesses move from an idea to a real venture. Through design thinking, customer discovery, market research, business modeling, branding, prototyping, and pitching, students will develop an original concept and present it to a judging panel. The curriculum, lesson resources, and activities are provided - your role is to make them engaging, accessible, and memorable while helping every student make progress.

What You'll Be Doing

Deliver Circuit Stream’s provided Entrepreneurship and Business Innovation curriculum with energy, clarity, and strong classroom facilitation.
Guide students through idea generation, customer discovery, market research, business modeling, branding, pricing, prototyping, and pitch preparation while ensuring learners are meeting the course learning objectives.
Coach students as they test and refine original venture ideas, helping them use feedback, think creatively, and communicate the value of their solution with confidence.
Create an inclusive, positive classroom environment, monitor student understanding, provide helpful feedback, and use appropriate behavior-management techniques to reinforce expectations, rules, and safety requirements.
Supervise students during scheduled indoor and outdoor activities outside classroom instruction each day, helping maintain engagement, appropriate behavior, and safety.

What We're Looking For

You genuinely enjoy working with teenagers and know how to keep a group engaged, participating, and excited to create and share ideas.
Professional, academic, entrepreneurial, or substantial project experience in business, entrepreneurship, innovation, marketing, product development, or a related field.
A completed Bachelor's degree in Business, Commerce, Entrepreneurship, Marketing, Economics, or a related discipline or Masters/PhD in progress. Equivalent entrepreneurial or professional experience will also be considered.
Strong communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to make business concepts clear, practical, and approachable for beginners.
Teaching, tutoring, mentoring, coaching, startup-program, camp, or youth-program experience is strongly preferred.
You are dependable, prepared, receptive to feedback, and comfortable taking responsibility for student behavior and safety.

Who This Is For

Someone who gets energy from helping teenagers turn ideas into action and is comfortable being active, visible, and engaged throughout the day.
A practical teacher who brings provided lessons to life through discussion, examples, team activities, experimentation, and hands-on project work.
Someone who can be warm and encouraging while still setting clear expectations and maintaining a focused, safe learning environment.
A business-minded generalist who is comfortable supporting beginners across entrepreneurship, customer research, branding, business models, and pitching.
Someone who is available to teach on weekdays during the summer for all course dates listed.

Who This Is Not For

If you enjoy business or entrepreneurship but do not enjoy spending your day actively working with teenagers.
If your preferred teaching style is primarily lecture-based or you expect students to stay engaged without active facilitation and project work.
If you become frustrated when beginners need extra explanation, encouragement, feedback, or time to refine an idea.
If you are uncomfortable enforcing classroom expectations, supervising students outside the classroom, or taking responsibility for safety.

What's In It For You

The opportunity to help teenagers explore entrepreneurship, innovation, and business while building confidence in their own ideas.
A complete curriculum, lesson resources, activities, instructor training, and support from Circuit Stream’s Education team.
A community of instructors and educators to connect with and learn from.
A rewarding summer role where you can strengthen your teaching and mentorship skills while making a visible impact on students.

Ready to Apply?

Apply with your resume and a short note answering two questions

Why do you enjoy teaching and working with teenagers?
What business, startup, or innovation concept would you be excited to make interesting and understandable for a teenager?

We’re committed to creating an inclusive and respectful workplace and learning environment where diverse backgrounds and perspectives are valued. What makes us different makes us stronger. If this sounds like a role where you could help students thrive, apply today.

By submitting your application, you consent to Circuit Stream contacting you by phone, text, or email.
