Original job description

Meet Circuit Stream

Where big futures start. Circuit Stream is building the defining youth enrichment brand in North America. We create pre-university summer camps that give young people the chance to explore what they might want to do next, from AI, engineering, medicine and business to psychology, sports, outdoor adventure and more. Through partnerships with leading universities and industry experts, we turn those interests into hands-on experiences that build skills, confidence, and open doors to future opportunities. We have big ambitions to serve over 10,000+ students a year. Getting there means moving quickly, trying new things, learning from what works, and giving great people real ownership. If you’re ambitious about where your own career can go, and excited to help young people discover where theirs might lead, you’ll thrive here.

We’re looking for a healthcare, biomedical, engineering, or technology practitioner, educator, researcher, or advanced student who can make digital health and medical technology exciting and approachable for teenagers.

Role Details

Delivery: In person at the University of Calgary

Teaching dates and hours: July 05 - 09, 2027 from 8:45am to 4:45 pm

Compensation: CAD 1,650 per week

Training: Required instructor training/onboarding when hired; additional 2-3 hours in June before courses begin.

Other: A criminal background check will be requested before working with youth learners.

Why You’ll Love This Role

You’ll introduce students ages 13–17 to the technologies reshaping modern medicine, from wearable sensors and medical devices to imaging systems and digital health tools. Students will explore how health data is captured, analyzed, and used, then apply what they learn through activities such as medical image annotation and building a basic health dashboard. The curriculum, lesson resources, and activities are provided - your role is to make them engaging, accessible, and memorable while helping every student make progress.

What You'll Be Doing

Deliver Circuit Stream’s provided HealthTech Innovation curriculum with energy, clarity, and strong classroom facilitation.
Guide students through hands-on activities involving health data, wearable sensors, medical devices, imaging, and digital health tools, while ensuring learners are meeting the course learning objectives.
Help students connect healthcare challenges to technology solutions and explain technical and medical concepts in clear, age-appropriate ways.
Create an inclusive, positive classroom environment and use appropriate behavior-management techniques to reinforce expectations, rules, and safety requirements.
Supervise students during scheduled indoor and outdoor activities outside classroom instruction each day, while monitoring learner progress and communicating concerns or support needs to the Circuit Stream team.

What We're Looking For

You genuinely enjoy working with teenagers and know how to keep a group engaged, participating, and excited to learn.
Professional, academic, research, or substantial project experience in healthcare, biomedical engineering, health sciences, computer science, medical technology, digital health, or a closely related field.
A completed or in-progress degree in a healthcare, engineering, technology, biological, or health-science discipline; equivalent professional or teaching experience will also be considered.
Strong communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to make medical and technical concepts clear and approachable for beginners.
Teaching, tutoring, mentoring, coaching, camp, or youth-program experience is strongly preferred.
You are dependable, prepared, receptive to feedback, and comfortable taking responsibility for student behavior and safety.

Who This Is For

Someone who gets energy from helping teenagers explore the intersection of healthcare, technology, and future career paths.
A practical teacher who brings provided lessons to life through questions, demonstrations, case studies, and hands-on participation.
Someone who can be warm and approachable while still setting clear boundaries and maintaining a focused, safe learning environment.
A curious generalist who is comfortable helping beginners understand both the healthcare problem and the technology used to address it.
Someone available to teach on weekdays during the summer for the course dates listed.

Who This Is Not For

If you are interested in health technology but do not enjoy spending your day actively working with teenagers.
If your preferred teaching style is primarily lecture-based or you expect students to stay engaged without active facilitation.
If you become frustrated when beginners need extra explanation, encouragement, or redirection.
If you are uncomfortable enforcing classroom expectations, supervising students outside the classroom, or taking responsibility for safety.

What's In It For You

The opportunity to introduce teenagers to the future of healthcare and help them explore pathways in medicine, engineering, and technology.
A complete curriculum, lesson resources, activities, instructor training, and support from Circuit Stream’s Education team.
A community of instructors and educators to connect with and learn from.
A rewarding summer role where you can strengthen your teaching and mentorship skills while making a visible impact on students.

Ready to Apply?

Apply with your resume and a short note answering two questions

Why do you enjoy teaching and working with teenagers?
What health technology, medical device, or digital health concept would you be excited to make interesting and understandable for a teenager?

We’re committed to creating an inclusive and respectful workplace and learning environment where diverse backgrounds and perspectives are valued. What makes us different makes us stronger. If this sounds like a role where you could help students thrive, apply today.

By submitting your application, you consent to Circuit Stream contacting you by phone, text, or email.
