Original job description
Where big futures start. Circuit Stream is building the defining youth enrichment brand in North America. We create pre-university summer camps that give young people the chance to explore what they might want to do next, from AI, engineering, medicine, and business to psychology, sports, outdoor adventure, and more. Through partnerships with leading universities and industry experts, we turn those interests into hands-on experiences that build skills, confidence, and open doors to future opportunities. We have big ambitions to serve over 10,000+ students a year. Getting there means moving quickly, trying new things, learning from what works, and giving great people real ownership. If you’re ambitious about where your own career can go, and excited to help young people discover where theirs might lead, you’ll thrive here.
We’re looking for a current or future lawyer (Must be in Law School), or an educator who can help teenagers build confidence, think critically, and learn how to make a clear, persuasive case.

Why You’ll Love This Role
You’ll help students ages 13–17 understand how arguments are built, challenged, and defended in both legal and public-speaking settings. You’ll teach two courses: Introduction to Law and Debate and Public Speaking. Students will analyze evidence, practice persuasive advocacy, take part in rebuttal and cross-examination, and build toward a mock trial, live debate, and persuasive speech. The curriculum, lesson resources, and activities are provided - your role is to make them engaging, accessible, and memorable while helping every student build confidence.
What You'll Be Doing
- Deliver Circuit Stream’s provided Introduction to Law and Debate and Public Speaking curricula with energy, clarity, and strong classroom facilitation.
- Guide students through case analysis, legal research, argument construction, evidence, rebuttal, cross-examination, persuasive speaking, and public speaking practice, ensuring learners are meeting the course learning objectives.
- Coach students as they prepare for mock trials, live debates, and persuasive speeches, helping them think critically, speak with confidence, and respond thoughtfully under pressure.
- Create an inclusive, positive classroom environment and use appropriate behavior-management techniques to reinforce expectations, rules, respectful discussion, and safety requirements.
- Supervise students during scheduled indoor and outdoor activities outside classroom instruction each day, while monitoring learner progress and communicating concerns or support needs to the Circuit Stream team.
- You genuinely enjoy working with teenagers and know how to keep a group engaged, participating, and confident enough to speak up.
- Professional, academic, competitive, or substantial project experience in law, political science, debate, public speaking, communications, education, or a closely related field.
- A completed degree in Law, Political Science, or a related discipline, OR Masters/PhD in progress. Equivalent professional or competitive experience will also be considered.
- Strong communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to explain legal concepts, argument structure, and speaking techniques clearly to beginners.
- Teaching, tutoring, debate coaching, mock-trial coaching, mentoring, camp, or youth-program experience is strongly preferred.
- You are dependable, prepared, receptive to feedback, and comfortable taking responsibility for student behavior, respectful discussion, and safety.
- Someone who gets energy from helping teenagers find their voice and become more confident thinkers and speakers.
- A discussion-driven teacher who brings provided lessons to life through questioning, practice, feedback, role-play, and active participation.
- Someone who can be warm and encouraging while still setting clear expectations and maintaining a focused, respectful, and safe environment.
- A facilitator who is comfortable coaching students through disagreement, rebuttal, cross-examination, and persuasive advocacy without letting discussions become personal.
- Someone who is available to teach on weekdays during the summer for all course dates listed.
- If you enjoy law, debate, or public speaking but do not enjoy spending your day actively working with teenagers.
- If your preferred teaching style is primarily lecture-based or you are uncomfortable asking students to speak, debate, present, and participate regularly.
- If you become frustrated when beginners need extra coaching, encouragement, or multiple opportunities to practice.
- If you are uncomfortable managing disagreement, enforcing respectful classroom expectations, supervising students outside the classroom, or taking responsibility for safety.
- The opportunity to help teenagers build confidence in critical thinking, argumentation, public speaking, and legal reasoning.
- A complete curriculum, lesson resources, activities, instructor training, and support from Circuit Stream’s Education team.
- A community of instructors and educators to connect with and learn from.
- A rewarding summer role where you can strengthen your teaching, coaching, and facilitation skills while making a visible impact on students.
