Original job description
Where big futures start. Circuit Stream is building the defining youth enrichment brand in North America. We create pre-university summer camps that give young people the chance to explore what they might want to do next, from AI, engineering, medicine and business to psychology, sports, outdoor adventure and more. Through partnerships with leading universities and industry experts, we turn those interests into hands-on experiences that build skills, confidence, and open doors to future opportunities. We have big ambitions to serve over 10,000+ students a year. Getting there means moving quickly, trying new things, learning from what works, and giving great people real ownership. If you’re ambitious about where your own career can go, and excited to help young people discover where theirs might lead, you’ll thrive here.
We’re looking for a sports medicine, kinesiology, exercise science, or healthcare practitioner, educator, or Masters/PhD student who can make human movement and injury prevention engaging for teenagers and create a classroom where students are excited to participate, test ideas, and learn.
Role Details
Delivery: In person at the University of Toronto
Teaching dates and hours: August 03 - 13, 2027 from 8:45am to 4:45 pm
Compensation: CAD 1,500 per week
Training: Required instructor training/onboarding when hired; additional 2-3 hours in June before courses begin.
Other: A criminal background check will be requested before working with youth learners.
Why You’ll Love This Role
You’ll help students ages 13–17 explore how the body moves, responds to exercise, and recovers from injury through hands-on activities, case studies, and practical demonstrations. Students will investigate functional anatomy, biomechanics, exercise physiology, movement analysis, injury prevention and rehabilitation, sports nutrition, and sport psychology. The curriculum, lesson resources, and activities are provided - your role is to make them engaging, accessible, and memorable while helping every student make progress.
What You'll Be Doing
- Deliver Circuit Stream’s provided Sports Medicine and Kinesiology curriculum with energy, clarity, and strong classroom facilitation.
- Guide students through fitness testing, movement analysis, basic taping practice, case studies, and other hands-on activities while ensuring learners are meeting the course learning objectives.
- Help students connect concepts in anatomy, biomechanics, exercise physiology, injury prevention, nutrition, and mental performance to real sports medicine scenarios and careers.
- Create an inclusive, positive classroom environment and use appropriate behavior-management techniques to reinforce expectations, rules, and safety requirements.
- Supervise students during scheduled indoor and outdoor activities outside classroom instruction each day, while monitoring learner progress and communicating concerns or support needs to the Circuit Stream team.
- You genuinely enjoy working with teenagers and know how to keep a group engaged, participating, and excited to learn.
- Professional, academic, clinical, coaching, research, or substantial project experience in kinesiology, sports medicine, exercise science, physiotherapy, athletic therapy, human kinetics, or a related field.
- A completed or in-progress degree in Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Sports Medicine, Physiotherapy, Athletic Therapy, Human Kinetics, or a related discipline; equivalent professional or teaching experience will also be considered.
- Strong communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to explain anatomy, movement, exercise, and injury concepts clearly and responsibly to beginners.
- Teaching, tutoring, mentoring, coaching, camp, or youth-program experience is strongly preferred.
- You are dependable, prepared, receptive to feedback, and comfortable taking responsibility for student behavior and safety.
- Someone who gets energy from helping teenagers understand how the body works and explore careers in sports medicine and human performance.
- A practical teacher who brings provided lessons to life through demonstrations, movement activities, case studies, questions, and active participation.
- Someone who can be warm and approachable while still setting clear boundaries and maintaining a focused, safe learning environment.
- A thoughtful facilitator who can make health, movement, injury, and performance topics age-appropriate, evidence-based, and easy for beginners to understand.
- Someone who is available to teach on weekdays during the summer for all course dates listed.
- If you are interested in sports or healthcare but do not enjoy spending your day actively working with teenagers.
- If your preferred teaching style is primarily lecture-based or you are uncomfortable leading hands-on movement and activity-based learning.
- If you become frustrated when beginners need extra explanation, encouragement, or redirection.
- If you are uncomfortable enforcing classroom expectations, supervising students during physical or outdoor activities, or taking responsibility for safety.
- The opportunity to introduce teenagers to sports medicine, kinesiology, and careers in human health and performance.
- A complete curriculum, lesson resources, activities, instructor training, and support from Circuit Stream’s Education team.
- A community of instructors and educators to connect with and learn from.
- A rewarding summer role where you can strengthen your teaching and mentorship skills while making a visible impact on students.
Apply with your resume and a short note answering two questions
- Why do you enjoy teaching and working with teenagers?
