Original job description

You are the brains behind our work …

At Citi, we do not just adapt to change – we drive it. Our Summer Technology Analyst Program is where forward thinking talents meet unparalleled opportunities. This is your chance to innovate, influence, and make an impact in the most global financial institution!

Citi Technology partners to ensure that Citi’s platforms can “Be the Best” for clients globally, with a diverse and ethical workforce that applies innovation and automation to deliver a world class client experience and strengthen our reputation. We have over 30,000 technologists globally who are dedicated to serving our clients’ needs across the firm. By utilizing a broad range of technologies, we are at the forefront of innovation. We seek to drive our systems and processes towards scalable, low-latency, high frequency enterprise systems to support Citi’s strategic priorities.

We provide you with the knowledge and skills you need to succeed…

We are committed to teaching you the ropes. The Summer Analyst Program starts in early May with an in-depth education on the Analyst role’s fundamentals and the nuances of Citi’s culture. The program also includes on-the-desk training, an informative speaker series, and networking opportunities. Summer Analysts often return to Citi after graduating from university to become Full-Time Analysts and continue their career in technology.

Your time here will look like this...

Advancing our technological capabilities day after day not only delivers seamless services to the bank but works towards building the flexible systems that will define the digital bank of tomorrow. The Production Support team is at the forefront of maintaining and optimizing critical live production systems, ensuring their health, stability, and peak performance so that Citi can confidently conduct business and service clients. Our analysts use their problem solving and technical skills to quickly resolve any issues, which can vary in severity and complexity and may impact Citi’s reputation or profits. Production support analysts are often ‘the bridge’ between technology and the business, so they quickly become equipped with extensive business knowledge, as well as technical skills.

As a Production Support Analyst, you will work in a dynamic environment that adapts to the needs and priorities of various organizations: Services, Markets, Banking, Functions and Data. This role offers a unique blend of business knowledge and technical expertise, empowering you to swiftly troubleshoot complex problems and engineer robust solutions. Your core mission will be to guarantee production stability, providing an always available and resilient technological backbone for our clients. This involves coordinating with other technology partners such as developers, business teams, etc. to monitor the end-to-end application environment in real-time.

While technologies can vary slightly from team to team, Analysts will have exposure within the following categories:

Hands-On Incident & Problem Management: Gain direct exposure to supporting our clients through the entire lifecycle of incident and problem management. You'll develop critical problem-solving skills and learn how to manage complex technical challenges under pressure.

Enhancing Monitoring & Alerting Systems: Contribute to the continuous improvement of our sophisticated monitoring capabilities. You'll work with industry-standard tools like ITRS Geneos and Grafana to build and refine platforms that proactively identify and alert on production issues, enabling rapid resolution.

Developing Innovative Tooling & Automation: Unleash your coding potential! You'll have the exciting opportunity to design, develop, and implement custom applications and scripts that automate processes, improve efficiency, and empower your team.

Elevate your technical skills: As a Production Support Analyst, you'll master Linux/Unix, hone database expertise (SQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL), and build automation with Python. You'll gain experience with application servers, web technologies, and strengthen networking knowledge. This role offers hands-on use of monitoring tools (ITRS Geneos, Grafana) and exposure to cloud and containerization (Kubernetes), ensuring continuous growth in a dynamic production environment.

While technologies can vary slightly from team to team, Analysts will have exposure within the following categories:

Microservices Developer: Java, Spring Framework, Pivotal Cloud Foundry

Front-End Web Development: React or Angular, Apigee TypeScript, HTML5

Generative AI & AI Agents: GitHub Copilot with various models, Citi Squad (automated code reviews), Devin.AI (Agentic Code generation), Prompt Engineering, Workflow Design, GenAI Optimization, Stylus Workspaces (In-house Gemini)

Data Analytics: Utilizing tools like Splunk, Tableau, and Adobe Analytics to track customer journey adoption and measure the business value of delivered products.

No matter your team placement, as a member in our program, you can expect:

Global Exposure: Work in globally scoped projects with cross-functional teams and gain insights into how technology drives the financial sector worldwide.
Continuous Learning: Benefit from structured learning, networking, mentoring, and development programs that are designed to sharpen your technical prowess, enhance your business insight, and cultivate your leadership skills.
Real Impact: Contribute to real-world projects that shape the future of banking, from developing next-gen digital banking solutions to enhancing our cybersecurity defenses and driving data-powered innovations.

To join Citi, you should meet the following criteria:

Graduation between Dec 2027 and May 2028.
Educational background: Bachelor’s degree Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, or other tech related degrees.
GPA of 3.0 or better is preferred.
A proactive problem-solver who thrives on innovation and embraces challenges with enthusiasm, leveraging Generative AI to address complex business problems and create novel solutions.
Possess a global outlook and willingness to collaborate across cultures and time zones.
Have excellent communication skills, project management, leadership, attention to detail, and the ability to work well within diverse teams.
Ability to pass technical interviews consisting of basic algorithmic programming exercises.
Must be collaborative and adaptable, with excellent communication skills. Prior experience working in agile teams is desirable.

Who we think will be a great fit...

A steadfast dedication to learning and a true passion for business are vital. As global industries continue to evolve, we are seeking professionals who bring a global perspective to the future of banking and are eager to make an impact at the corporate level using AI. We value diversity and so do you.

This program is ideal for those who:

Are ambitious, with relentless drive to succeed in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Are curious about how technology can revolutionize finance and are eager to be at the forefront of this transformation.
Want to grow into a future tech leader, with a passion for both technology and its application in the global financial industry.
